Occupational health and safety<br />

The physical health, safety and overall wellbeing of our employees<br />

is of paramount importance. We are committed to providing a<br />

workplace that promotes and facilitates employee wellbeing and<br />

safety to ensure they return to work each day safe and well.<br />

We implemented an Occupational <strong>Health</strong> and Safety Strategy<br />

<strong>2018</strong>-2023 this year and focused on supporting our people in the<br />

workplace by:<br />

Developing safety leadership through development and<br />

implementation of eLearning modules, guidance material and<br />

tools<br />

▪▪<br />

Actively engaging people in their health, safety and wellbeing<br />

▪▪<br />

Enhancing injury management processes to be more people<br />

focused.<br />

Our actions this year and the commitment of our people and<br />

managers has resulted in a 17 per cent reduction in lost time<br />

injuries, greater than 80 per cent completion of workplace<br />

inspections and more than 70 per cent of people completing<br />

mandatory Occupational Violence and Aggression and<br />

Occupational <strong>Health</strong> and Safety training.<br />

We continue to work collaboratively to care for the physical and<br />

psychological health, safety and overall wellbeing of our people.<br />

Definitions<br />

Occupational violence - Any incident where an employee is<br />

abused, threatened or assaulted in circumstances arising out of,<br />

or in the course of their employment.<br />

Incident - An event or circumstance that could have resulted<br />

in, or did result in, harm to an employee. Incidents of all severity<br />

rating must be included. Code Grey reporting is not included,<br />

however, if an incident occurs during the course of a planned or<br />

unplanned Code Grey, the incident must be included.<br />

Accepted WorkCover claims - Accepted Workcover claims<br />

that were lodged in 2017-18.<br />

Lost time - Defined as greater than one day.<br />

Injury, illness or condition - This includes all reported harm<br />

as a result of the incident, regardless of whether the employee<br />

required time off work or submitted a claim.<br />

Full time equivalent (FTE) - FTE figures required in the<br />

above table should be calculated consistent with the Workforce<br />

information FTE calculation.<br />
