Today I am delighted to welcome the players, supporters and officials of
Bilston Town to The Paycare Ground. Whilst the club rivalry goes back to
our Birmingham Combination days this will be the first Premier Division
meeting of the clubs since 1981/82. Win lose or draw the players and
officials will be made welcome in joining us for our award winning
hospitality.
Before todayʼs game we will be holding one minute's silence in memory
of Marina Heseltine wife of our great friend Frank Heseltine. Everyone at
the club send their condolences to Frank and his family and friends
Following two excellent wins against Wem Town and Black Country
Rangers we have suffered two very disappointing away losses at Wolves
Casuals and AFC Bridgnorth. The losses were disappointing for two very
different reasons. At Cassies we were excellent in the first half playing
some superb and impressive football and we should have entered the half
time break at least one goal to the good. After then missing a penalty we
conceded two late goals against a team expected to be in the hunt for
honours. It is a game we couldʼve won with a fine performance against a
very good side. At Bridgnorth last Saturday we never got out of the starting
blocks and conceded two sloppy goals giving us a mountain to climb. In the
end we couldʼve snatched a point. So instead of coming away with a
minimum of two and possibly four points from these two games we came
back with no points. Both games highlight how difficult this Division is. If
you donʼt take your chances or reduce mistakes you will be
punished.
