hazards. They are also loaded<br />
with programs capable<br />
of identifying high-risk asset<br />
characteristics so they can<br />
easily tag images of faulty<br />
assets. These images will then<br />
be presented to the utility<br />
engineer for verification<br />
before maintenance personnel<br />
is deployed to the field.<br />
On the line<br />
<strong>Robots</strong> can also be<br />
dispatched to a transmission<br />
line pole where they will do a<br />
routine inspection. The robots<br />
can draw their power from the<br />
energized line. Once settled,<br />
the robot then travels along<br />
the route to collect visual<br />
and infrared images of the<br />
line assets, particularly the<br />
ole-mounted hardware and<br />
insulators.<br />
In the air<br />
Drones are particularly handy<br />
in getting a live video stream<br />
of the transmission tower and<br />
lines at a bird’s eye view. While<br />
its primary purpose is to<br />
record its entire flight over the<br />
transmission lines, it can also<br />
be set to inspect the lines and<br />
capture close-up shots of line<br />
