Church restoration to begin soon<br />

there is now $1.562 million in<br />

the bank towards the rebuild,<br />

with arecent fundraising<br />

eveningnetting $35,000.<br />

This leavesthe project<br />

$500,000 short of thetarget<br />

required to complete the<br />

rebuild, including pipeorgan<br />

repair,refurbishment and<br />

stainedglasswindow<br />

restoration.<br />

The GlenmarkChurch<br />

opened in <strong>October</strong> 1907 and<br />

was fundedbythe generosity of<br />

Annie Townend, daughterof<br />

Glenmark Station owner<br />

George Moore.<br />

‘‘We are seekingfundsfrom<br />

friends, family and those that<br />

appreciatethe building and<br />

chattels for theirheritage<br />

value, as well as for the normal<br />

function it provides to the local<br />

community,’’ Mr Munro says.<br />

Arecent fundraisingevening<br />

was held in the new Omihi<br />

Community and Sports Hall,<br />

with more than 120 people<br />

attending.<br />

Motorway delays expected with concrete pour<br />

The final concrete pour on the<br />

Waimakariri Bridgedeck on State<br />

Highway 1willagaindisrupttraffic on the<br />

motorway, affecting the weekend of<br />

November 1to4.<br />

The new lane on SH1 thatconnects to<br />

the newChristchurch <strong>North</strong>ern Corridor<br />

will be sealed at the same time.<br />

Work is on schedule to be finished on<br />

the bridge beforeChristmas, with<br />

asphalting and approach work continuing<br />

section. It will slowtraffic. Motorists are<br />

It is hopedtohave the bridge re­opened<br />

from6pm, Friday, November 1, to 5.30am,<br />

Monday,November 4. There willbea<br />

60kmh speed limit in place on the bridge.<br />

The Tram Road on­ramp will be closed<br />

fromaround 7am to 6pm on November2<br />

and 3. This is to reduce the traffic flowon<br />

SH1 before the bridge. For more<br />
