<strong>The</strong>se quotas serve to give <strong>the</strong> elected or nom<strong>in</strong>ated <strong>youth</strong> an opportunity to create <strong>the</strong> networks <strong>and</strong> name<br />

for <strong>the</strong>mselves <strong>and</strong> prove to <strong>the</strong> public that <strong>the</strong>y can perform. Consequently, <strong>youth</strong> who are nom<strong>in</strong>ated or<br />

elected through <strong>the</strong> quotas system st<strong>and</strong> better chances <strong>of</strong> be<strong>in</strong>g elected <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> ballot system <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> next<br />

election if <strong>the</strong>y perform <strong>and</strong> represent <strong>the</strong> <strong>youth</strong>s well.<br />

ii) Sen. Naisula Lesuuda, nom<strong>in</strong>ated as a woman Senator dur<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> <strong>11th</strong> Parliament, <strong>and</strong> elected as to <strong>the</strong><br />

<strong>12th</strong> Parliament as MP for Samburu West Constituency;<br />

iii) Sen. Martha Wangari, nom<strong>in</strong>ated as women Senator dur<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> <strong>11th</strong> Parliament, <strong>and</strong> elected to <strong>the</strong> <strong>12th</strong><br />

Parliament as MP for Gilgil Constituency.<br />

In Kenya, b) Political <strong>the</strong>re Party are Fund<strong>in</strong>g two guaranteed slots for <strong>youth</strong> <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> Senate, pursuant to Art. 98<br />

milarly, Ug<strong>and</strong>a has a reservation <strong>of</strong> 5 seats for <strong>youth</strong> representatives selected<br />

uncil, <strong>of</strong> which two are filled by young women.<br />

Political parties’ sources <strong>of</strong> fund<strong>in</strong>g are diverse rang<strong>in</strong>g from <strong>the</strong> government contribution <strong>and</strong> private<br />

donations <strong>and</strong> contribution. Youth <strong>in</strong>tend<strong>in</strong>g to contest for elective positions face <strong>the</strong> challenge <strong>of</strong> rais<strong>in</strong>g<br />
