Residential facilities at Mount St Bernard College
offer a safe, nurturing and caring environment
for girls and boys from many areas across Far
North Queensland, the Torres Strait, Tablelands,
Northern Territory and beyond who need to be
away from home for their education.
The new and refurbished residential facilities
accommodate boarders in contemporary
and comfortable facilities. The modern and
progressive design of these facilities promotes
independent living as part of the educational
experience. The design has also taken into
account the serenity of the surrounds, to blend
with the magnificent old gum trees on the site.
Within the boarding environment, weekly and
full time boarders take advantage of supervised
study at night, themed dinners and recreational
boarding activities including sporting activities,
local sightseeing and regular trips to Atherton
and Cairns.

SCOTS PGC has been a co-educational
boarding school since 1918. Since that time
thousands of students from around Australia
and overseas have boarded at SCOTS PGC
whilst they study at school, play sport and
actively take part in the College community.
They have developed friendships for life and
learned new life skills. SCOTS PGC presently
offers positions for 200 boarders in separate
boarding campuses for boys and girls from Year
5 through to Year 12.
Students can make themselves at home in
comfortable surroundings within the boarding

Nowhere is the celebrated Somerville House spirit

More than one hundred students from diverse and
culturally-rich backgrounds call Somerville House,
home. Each year a large percentage of girls come
from rural and regional areas that may not offer the
educational opportunities and resources Somerville

Boarding is offered to students in Years 6 to 12
and incorporates modern and secure amenities.
Occupying designated levels in two campus
buildings, the Boarding House has air-conditioned

St Augustine’s College is a Catholic Secondary
School in the Marist tradition. The boarding
program includes both boys and girls who board at
the same campus but attend separate day schools
(St Monica’s College for the girls). St Augustine’s
offers a range of flexible boarding options,
including full-time and weekly boarding. Boys and
girls are housed in separate residences, joining
together for meals and organised recreation and
other activities.
There are five boarding residences at St
Augustine’s. Geaney for Year 7 boys, Burke for
Year 8 boys, Ambrose for Years 9 & 10 boys,
Francois for Years 11 & 12 boys while Chavoin
Residence caters for the girls. Boarding facilities
