celebrated the success of its<br />

top achievers at its senior<br />

prizegiving.<br />

Special guests on the evening<br />

included board of trustees members,<br />

establishment board chairwoman<br />

Jackie Freeman, 24/7<br />

youth worker Courtney Forrest<br />

and Mayor Sam Broughton.<br />

A number of students received<br />

awards for their academic, sporting,<br />

artistic and cultural achievements.<br />

The 24/7 Youth Community<br />

cup was jointly awarded to Alex<br />

Prendergast and Jack Tocker.<br />

The Rolleston Lions Kindness<br />

Matters cup was won by Abbey<br />

Rex.<br />

Chloe Wright was recognised<br />

for her hip-hop achievements<br />

with the Excellence in the Arts<br />

award.<br />

Wero awards were given to students<br />

who have challenged themselves<br />

during the year across<br />

many areas including sport,<br />

culture, learning and citizenship.<br />

They were awarded to Emily<br />

Taylor, Hamish Heney, Brooke<br />

Warwood-Smith and Ella Jarvis.<br />

The contribution to the community<br />

awards were given to<br />

Olivia Kempton for sport, Jacey<br />

Alex Prendergast and Jack Tocker<br />

Millano for bicultural, Cam<br />

Batchelor and Alyssa Parkinson<br />

for the arts and Hamish Heney<br />

for community.<br />

Te Kakakura awards were<br />

given to students who have<br />

excelled in bicultural practices in<br />

the school.<br />

Nikau Rapana and Alex Scrivens<br />

were this year’s recipients.<br />

The AKO Learning awards<br />

recognise the depth of learning<br />

during AKO and the development<br />

of the school dispositions<br />

of develop self, build communities<br />

and transform futures.<br />
