The chamber music selections usually change from year to year, introducing some variety.

For example, the 2013 Telekom Beethoven Competition in Bonn required Beethoven’s

Sonata for Horn and Piano, but in 2015, one of Beethoven’s violin sonatas was compulsory.

At the 2017 Chopin Competition in Darmstadt, Chopin’s Sonata for Cello and Piano (and

one of his piano concertos) is listed for the finals. In 2018, the Honens Competition in

Calgary has a specific focus on Chamber Music: the participants will collaborate with a

singer and a violinist, while the finalists must also perform with a wind quintet.
