2016 AAF Award winners
Yuanfan Yang (1997, Great Britain)
“[Yang's] dazzling Schumann Carnaval and
Liszt Vallee d'Obermann rivalled those of the
young Ashkenazy.” - International Piano

Yuanfan won 1 st prize at several competitions:
Cleveland International Young Artists Piano
Competition (2015), the Liszt Competition for
Young Pianists in Weimar (2014), James
Mottram International Piano Competition and
Manchester International Piano Concerto
Competition for Young Pianists in the U.K. and
the 3rd prize at the Minnesota International e-
Piano Junior Competition. His outstanding
performances as the youngest participant and
semi-finalist in the Cleveland International Piano
Competition 2016, earned him the AAF Award.
His debut album for Orchid Classics is due for
international release in mid 2017.
Nozomi Nakagiri (1987, Japan)
After her graduation from Tokyo University of
the Arts in 2013, Nozomi Nakagiri went to
Poland to study with Ewa Pob ocka. She is back
in Japan since September 2016.
Nozomi won prizes in national and international
piano competitions, such as the Music
Competition of Japan (2 nd prize), the
International Rosario Marciano Piano
Competition in Vienna (2nd prize) and the
Maria Canals Competition in Barcelona (2nd
prize), as well as Hamamatsu (2nd prize). She
also won a prize at the Mozarteum International
Summer Academy and the jury prize at the
PIANALE International Piano Academy in
Germany.
Nozomi received the AAF Award at the Edvard
Grieg Competition in Bergen (Norway).
