2016 AAF Award winners

Alyosha Jurinic (1989, Croatia)

Alyosha Jurinic won numerous international

competitions and all the major awards for young

musicians in Croatia.

He is best known for winning the 16 th Robert

Schumann Competition in Zwickau (2012),

where he deeply impressed the jury.

More recently, he was finalist of the Chopin

Competition in Warsaw (2015) and prize winner

of the Queen Elisabeth Competition in Brussels

(2016).

Hailed by the renowned pianist Malcolm Troup

as ‘a Chopin-player beyond compare’ following

a recital in London, he has continued to perform

solo and with orchestras in many countries. In

February 2015, he made his Carnegie Hall recital

debut.

Alyosha received the AAF award at the Sydney

International Piano Competition of Australia.

Ming Xie (1994, China)

Ming Xie has performed around

the world, at Alice Tully Hall,

Lincoln Center, Severance Hall in

Cleveland, Steinway Hall, Palau

de la Música in Barcelona,

Beijing Concert Hall and other

places.

In July 2016, he won the AAF

award and the audience prize at

the Sydney Int’l Piano

Competition of Australia. He

went on to win the 7 th

International Piano Competition

in Panama (October 2016).

Ming is currently studying at the

Juilliard School in New York with

Sergei Babayan.
