Achieving this certificationmeans the building is regenerative tothe environment— rather than having anegative or even neutral impact, a LivingBuilding creates a positive impact on thehuman and natural system it interacts with.For the past two years, the Nature Centerhas achieved Net Zero Energy by producingmore energy than the facility uses throughthe use of on-site solar panels, as well asNet Zero Water by capturing and reusingall water that falls on the site.As part of its team-building activities, theNature Center gives groups the opportunity toparticipate in service projects and interactiveprograms. Service projects can range fromsimple brush clearing and cleaning to morecomplicated tasks such as construction ofa rain shelter. Interactive programs, suchas GPS utilization, can be conducted at thecenter or at a business’ facility.With its outdoor facilities the NatureCenter offers much more than just astandard space to hold a business meeting.“It’s an amazing place,” Zabel said.“Being out in nature, you can walk thetrails, you’re connecting with people in avery unique way.
