Nora responding well
to Texas treatment for rare cancer

NORA GUISE is responding
well to the experimental
treatment she is undergoing in
the United States.
The six-year-old Rolleston
resident was accepted into a
CAR-T cell trial in Texas in a
bid to cure
her rare liver
cancer.

said Nora is
doing very

beginning the
treatment three weeks ago.
“She continues to be
healthy and has been enjoying
herself when we are not at the
hospital.
“The T cells are showing in her
blood which is great news and
first indications are they
are dropping Nora’s AFP
marker which is even better
news.”
Mrs Guise said if everything
goes to plan they will fly home
on Saturday.

Since being diagnosed, Nora
has gone through nine rounds of
chemotherapy.
She has had three surgeries
that included removing 60 per
cent of her liver, her gallbladder
and half of one lung.

Intersection
petition on its way
to Parliament

A PETITION with more than
2300 signatures in support of
safety upgrades at a West Melton
intersection will be presented to
Parliament this week.
The West Melton Residents
Association started the petition
calling for improvements at the
intersection of Weedons Ross Rd
and State Highway 73.
The paper version has 1185
signatures and the online version
has 1148.
Retiring Selwyn MP Amy
Adams will present the petition to
Parliament this week.
Resident Pru Bowman handed
it to Mrs Adams with her husband
Ken and councillor Jeff Bland on
Friday
“We’re very grateful and humbled
by the support of all of the
signatories and hope that we’ll see
constructive improvements made
to the intersection,” Mrs Bowman
said.
It was revealed last October that
safety improvements at the intersection
weren’t included in the
NZTA’s National Land Transport
Programme for 2018-21.
