THERE’S NO rocket science in building<br />
rest homes in <strong>Selwyn</strong>.<br />
On page 1 today we reveal another large<br />
complex is planned for Prebbleton.<br />
As the population swells there is going<br />
to be a market for all types of housing in<br />
the decades to come – three and four-bedroom houses for the<br />
influx of families, over-60s units and now retirement villages at<br />
the outer end of the age spectrum.<br />
And I suspect for many older people, it is good news rest<br />
homes are now on the horizon.<br />
A high percentage of the elderly are born and bred in the district,<br />
the thought of moving outside of the area when it’s time<br />
to move on from the family home must be a stressful thought.<br />
