Busker Nightsevents,<br />
presentedbythe<br />
<strong>Ashburton</strong> <strong>Courier</strong>, in<br />
downtown <strong>Ashburton</strong>.<br />
The first event, at<br />
Baring Square East last<br />
Friday night<br />
(<strong>December</strong>6), drew a<br />
modest crowd but the<br />
talent on stage shone to<br />
entertainthose<br />
attending; even<br />
developing thunder<br />
and lightningkept the<br />
rainatbay until the<br />
final performer had<br />
completedtheir act.<br />

Michael Bakerkept the<br />
entertainment flowing<br />
and put his newly<br />
learnedharmonica<br />
skills to good use in a<br />
music competitionwith<br />
giveaways for thosein<br />
the crowd.<br />

Pram, Ocean Waitokia<br />
and SarahTempleton,<br />
the Jingle Belles choral<br />
singersand dancers<br />
from DanceWorx<br />
which also featured the<br />
hiphop moves of Ages<br />
Alive Ashvegas.<br />
There was alsoaone<br />
time performance from<br />
the <strong>Ashburton</strong> Blues<br />
Brothers Alcohol<br />
Harm Reduction Band.<br />
The groupwas made up<br />
of representatives from<br />
the district’s agencies<br />
and hospitality<br />
businesses including<br />
<strong>Ashburton</strong> Community<br />
Alcohol &Drug<br />
Service (ACADS), Fire<br />
and Emergency New<br />
Zealand, St John<br />
<strong>Ashburton</strong> andHe<br />
Waka Tapu<strong>Ashburton</strong><br />
keen to remind people<br />
to think abouthow they<br />
are going to get home if<br />
they were drinking<br />
alcohol during<br />
Christmas festivities.<br />
