A MESSAGE FROM THE HEADTEACHER, MR P E MCCULLAGH
During Advent, we have used this as a time for us to reflect on the true meaning of the sea-
son. It has been a time of expectant waiting, hopeful anticipation and joyful preparation for
Christmas – Christ entering our world. It is the season of joy and a season of hope.
Joy was something we witnessed our Year 11 and Year 13 students experience during the sum-
mer as they opened their results envelopes back in August. There was much to celebrate in
terms of exam success: 81% of students achieving a Grade 4 and above in both English and
Mathematics at GCSE and sustained success at Key Stage 5. One of the things I have really
enjoyed this term has been working with our subject leaders in school. Listening to the enthusiastic
way they talk about their particular subjects leaves me in no doubt as to why our re-
sults are so strong – we have a passionate team of staff, hardworking students and supportive
parents/carers which are the key ingredients for success.
At school this term, we have been reflecting on whether our curriculum meets the needs of
an ever-changing world. We want to continue to commit to providing our students with the
necessary skills to achieve academic and spiritual growth so that they may truly thrive, both
socially and emotionally.
