A Season for Change
Home Improvement
From spring cleaning to major renovations,
this is the perfect time to update your home inside and out
What “springs to mind” for
you this time of year? Love?
Flowers? Cleaning? Home
improvement projects?
Backyard barbeques?
No matter what your plans are
for the season, you can take them to a
whole new level with new cabinets from
Schmidt Cabinets in New Salisbury, a
home improvement loan from WesBanco,
and paint and landscaping supplies from
English Hardware. Whatever you’re in
the mood to do, they’ll have you covered
and help you get the job done right.
Spring is, by its very nature, a time
of change, the season of renewal, so it’s no
surprise that almost everyone has his or
her own “plan” to do some upgrades of
one sort or another.
Many use this time of year to do the
basics – to open the windows and air out
the house, dust every nook and cranny
and simply give everything a deep cleaning
that will hopefully last the whole year
through. This is the ideal time to change
the furnace filter, put new batteries in the
smoke detectors, clean your silver, your
oven, your patio furniture (whatever’s on
YOUR list), and declutter your closets and
garage. A good spring cleaning will help
you breeze right through the season feeling
very accomplished!
Others often focus on beautifying
their landscaping, brightening their yard,
adding to the curb appeal of their home
when the days begin to get warmer. You
can add some color with flowers and
shrubbery that will last throughout the
season or for years to come. Don’t forget
to add mulch and decorative rock to accent
your new plants, finally, and most
importantly, design a sitting area that will
allow you and your family and guests to
enjoy your handiwork!
The most ambitious among us (you
know who you are) will tackle major
spring home improvement projects, both
inside and out. Kitchen and bathroom updates
rank high in home improvements
made each year and even higher in those
that add true value to you home. Patios
and decks are also popular, and let you
easily enjoy the longer, warmer days.
Many of these things, like adding a fresh
coat of paint, can be do-it-yourself projects,
but oftentimes, it pays to call in a
professional. It’s important to plan ahead
and be realistic with time, money, and expertise
levels.
From the smallest ideas to those that
solicit the “Wow, that’s amazing” effect,
spring projects are often the best way to
handle a true case of “spring fever.” Make
a plan, work the plan, and get it done! •
