коренных смысловых преобразований

непосредственном участии была разработана
программа «Е+», в рамках которой город был
условно поделен на тематические секторы,
географически совпадающие с существующими
промзонами, и для каждого из них определена
новая доминирующая функция.

our interview with Cees Donkers. In the present
article I would like to talk in more depth about the
fate of Strijp T. This territory is situated slightly to
one side of the city centre and most of its buildings
are not recognized as historically valuable
structures. Credit for changing this contempt for
the district’s existing buildings must go to the
design agency Atelier Van Berlo. While looking
for a headquarters for themselves, Van Berlo
discovered the old power station and became
excited by the idea of revitalizing rather than
demolishing it. “We fought for this idea for many
years, and in the end our efforts were rewarded
with success: the building was excluded from
the ‘demolition’ list and sold to a developer on
condition that it be renovated and converted to
an office building,” recalls Janne van Berlo. “And
it was while work on the transformation project
was underway that the building was recognized
as a monument. We regard this as the highest
praise for our efforts!” A brutal and emphatically
windowless volume, the power station was of a
size which was utterly unsuited to use as offices;
it has been turned into workspaces which are
convenient and light-filled, yet lovingly preserve
features of the building’s original style. “But the
most important long-term effect of the realization
of this project,” says Janne, “is that it breathed life
