... they will be called oaks of righteousness,

That He may be
Glorified.
Isaiah 61:3
Use Oakseed’s
Bazaar Catalog
to bless a child in
need with food,
toys, education,
and more.
Dear Friends of Oakseed,
One of the great joys of serving with Oakseed is having a
front-row seat to see the Lord working through our Ministry
Partners. Understanding the way God provides for His
children, cares for the outcasts of society, and demonstrates
His love through the power of the Gospel is a joy to witness.
Oakseed communicates daily with ministries to learn their
greatest needs so that we – and you – can stand together and
intercede for them in prayer. We regularly hear that prayer is
what they value most, so I encourage you to hold onto this
Bazaar Catalog or tuck it into your Bible to use as a guide
for your prayers. Included in this catalog is a snapshot of
our Ministry Partners, who they serve, what they do, and
how you can pray. We hope that these stories, photos, and a
glimpse into the calling God has placed on their lives touches
your heart and urges you to stand with them in prayer.
In addition to the prayer requests, we learn about specific
real needs within these ministries. The great strength of
these indigenous ministries is their experience in meeting
the needs of the poor in their communities.
Please consider using the Bazaar Catalog this Christmas to
send a gift to these ministries in honor of a family member,
friend, or co-worker. You will receive a special gift card to
present to your loved one that includes a description of the
gift and the receiving ministry. You may continue to use these
opportunities for birthday or wedding gifts throughout the
year or to honor a loved one’s memory by giving a gift in his
or her name. The Bazaar Catalog is also useful in making endof-year
donations. Your donation can be directed to particular
needs, allowing you to choose how your funds are used and
to see the Lord use them to make an eternal impact in the
lives of often overlooked people. If you wish to designate your
donation in this way, please note if you do not need gift cards.
You will still receive a charitable giving receipt.
God’s gift of Jesus meets our most fundamental need. Jesus
said, “to whom much was given; much will be required.”
Give gifts that meet real needs, that offer hope, and that
reflect His mercy.
Soli Deo Gloria!

Oakseed Bazaar
Christmas Gifts, Birthdays, Wedding Gifts,
Anniversaries, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day,
Teacher’s Gifts, Appreciation Gifts, and more.
The Oakseed Bazaar is an alternative for gift-giving. It is a way
to give meaningful gifts while meeting the needs of the poorest
of the poor around the world.
This catalog contains gift opportunities for 20 organizations
run by nationals in 12 countries, as well as for Oakseed
Headquarters, with more ministries included on our website
and online catalog. The great strength of these indigenous
ministries is their experience in effectively helping the poor
in their communities. Oakseed’s mission is to come alongside,
strengthen, and equip them to do the Lord’s work. The Bazaar
is one way we do this.
Here are the Five Steps:
1. Look through the catalog. Read about each organization
and its needs.
2. Select your gifts. Think of someone who would enjoy
having one or more of these needs met in his or her name.
3. Place your order.
• ONLINE: visit www.Oakseed.org/Bazaar and place your
order through our online shop.
• MAIL: Detach and complete the order form. Total your
selections and add $5.00 for shipping and handling. At
the bottom of the form, note the number of gift cards
and descriptive inserts you need. Include your name,
address, and method of payment. Mail in the form to
Oakseed Ministries, PO Box 1139, Wheaton, IL 60187
• EMAIL: Scan your order form or type out your order
and email it to info@oakseed.org
• PHONE: Call our offices at 703-876-9020 and place
your order by phone.
4. Receive gift cards. We send cards and inserts to you. You
write notes and deliver the gift cards personally.
5. Give gift cards. Give your cards to your recipient. Enjoy
their responses!

www.oakseed.org
The gift opportunities throughout this catalog will meet real
needs that have been requested directly from our Ministry
Partners and are uniquely appropriate to their ministries and
those they serve. In some cases, a gift will specifically bless one
individual; in others, the gift will bless many. In every case, your
generosity will provide hope and light in dark and difficult places.
With the variety of opportunities present in the catalog, you
can find the perfect gift for a sports fan, quilter, teacher, or
child. Check out our Buyers Guide on page 6 for ideas of
how you can use those gifts to bless others. Not only are you
meeting a tangible need around the world, but you are doing so
in a way that your friends and family can relate to and delight
in. One family said, “It means so much to us that the gift we
receive will benefit another family a hundred times more.”
Oakseed is committed to sending 100% of the gifts to our
Ministry Partners. We can do this by covering the costs of
operating the Bazaar Catalog elsewhere, including the gift for
Oakseed Bazaar Expenses on page 52. These gifts meet specific
needs, and on the occasion when an item is oversubscribed
beyond the ministry’s needs, those funds are applied to another
item for that specific ministry. If you are interested in giving
towards a larger gift item from this catalog and would like
to give a portion of the gift or to arrange a payment plan to
spread the costs out over several months, please contact our
office, and we are happy to help set that up. Because we send
the funds directly to the ministry where they are typically able
to purchase the items in-country at much lower rates than in
America, every gift helps!
The Bazaar Catalog is also useful in end-of-year donations. (If
you choose to designate your donation in this way, please note
if you do not need gift
cards.) Your donation
can be directed to
particular needs
allowing you to choose
where your funds are
used and to see how
the Lord will use them
to make an eternal
impact in the lives of
individuals who are
often overlooked.
Gift cards are
sent directly to
you so you can
personalize them
before delivering
them yourself.
Each ministry has an
option to give a gift
to be used where it
is needed the most.
Your gift to “Where
Most Needed” equips
the chosen ministry
with the resources—
including staffing,
materials, supporting
services, buildings,
equipment or food—to
fulfill their mission
to serve the poor and
show them the love of
Christ.

contracted HIV, and Aarav and his brother feared they might also be infected.
Aarav was angry at life and God. Then Aarav came to ACT. Staff members at
ACT encouraged Aarav and his brother to get tested for HIV. The negative test
gave Aarav hope. He joined ACT’s Youth Leadership Training program and
began to learn about things like truth, loyalty, and respect. Aarav credits ACT

“My name is Bizualem Tadesse. I am 23 years old. I came to Hanna Orphan’s
Home (HOH) at seven years old when I became a full orphan. I grew up at
HOH and started my schooling there at grade one. I am now in college, studying
Sociology. I am also employed as a part-time social worker at HOH.
I came to know Jesus and accepted Him as my personal savior as a child at HOH.
We were assigned to live in groups, and the children where I had been assigned
told me about Jesus and invited me to their church. It was there that I decided to
be a Christian. Therefore, HOH is everything to me. My life is highly interwoven
with the organization.
Hanna, the founder, and director of HOH, is my lovely mother. HOH showed
me meaning to life, education, and a job as well in my profession. I have learned
discipleship in my church and was baptized. I have a lot of brothers and sisters

children about Jesus and
invite them to accept Jesus.”

Cesar was four years old when his stepfather
killed his mother. As he grew, Cesar’s anger
made him a difficult child. Eventually, he left
home to live on the streets and became involved
with drugs and prostitution. His anger and
determination to avenge his mother led him
to a life of crime. After he was finally arrested,
Cesar met some JEAME evangelists at the
Foundation House. He learned about the love
of God. One afternoon he sat with a cigarette
in one hand and a Bible in the other, trying
to choose between them. He threw away the
cigarette and began reading the Bible. He chose
to follow Jesus. Eventually, Cesar was released
to Recovery House. JEAME continued to work
with him through his journey of recovery, and
Cesar found freedom in Christ. Today Cesar
is an evangelist, husband, and father who
marvels at what God has done in his life.

When young Dinesh was just ten years old, his father was into heavy alcoholism.
He had no food or proper clothes to wear. His mother struggled to provide for
Dinesh and his three older sisters. Frustrated with her life, she was on her way to
commit suicide, when a Light of the World disciple shared with her the glorious
gospel of Christ. Upon hearing the gospel, she trusted in Jesus. But God was not
done showing grace to Dinesh’s family. Dinesh’s father, Manohar, was delivered
from alcoholism and was also saved and baptized. A Light of the World prayer
group was formed in their home, and Dinesh was led to faith in Christ. Today,
Dinesh is a Godly young man who devotes much time to ministry and mentoring.

“My life has been full of ups and downs. Although I have struggled, I am thankful
that God has brought me back to His way. When we go through difficulties in our
lives, our first thought is to disappear or run away. There was a time when things
were so difficult that all I could think of was to disappear. I asked my mother to take
me out of the city to live with a relative because I felt that I would be able to turn
my life around if I was away from my friends and surroundings. To change my life
meant abandoning addictions, stopping drinking, smoking, and using drugs such as
marijuana and cocaine. There was also a need to change my behavior, personality,
and attitudes, which created serious problems for my family and myself.
I arrived at Lily of the Valleys determined to turn my life around. This helped the
treatment I received to be more effective, because our liberation depends first on
our God, together with our faith and determination, and also on the angels of God
in our lives like Lourdes and Lúcia who worked at Lily of the Valleys. Jesus is the
center of my life. Walking with him makes for a happy and secure journey. When I
surrendered my life to Him, everything changed. God transformed an irresponsible
and rebellious teenager into a strong and persevering woman — a vessel to be a
blessing to others. God gave
me a wonderful family and
blessed children. No one
believed I could be changed;
however, God specializes in the
impossible.”

that everything is in the hands of the Lord.
This year we are considering transforming
into an institution that serves the disabled
elderly, as most of the former children
with cerebral palsy are still here, and
growing into teenagers. We are waiting for
a suitable place to continue caring for the
children as they get older. Please pray for

Sponsorship:
Will you sponsor a crib at Love Link? Babies come and go through Love
Link, and the length of their stay is determined by the success of their
treatment plan and how quickly they recover from the effects of severe
malnutrition. Because the children are not at Love Link long enough to
be matched traditionally with a sponsor, Oakseed offers the opportunity
to sponsor a crib and to pray for and support all the babies who occupy
that crib. We will update you when a new baby arrives and when they
are released and sent
back to their families.
What an incredible way
to see the Lord’s healing
hand and to participate
in the transformation of
these babies! Visit www.
oakseed.org/sponsor to
sign up to sponsor a crib.
Pray for Love Link:
Please pray for the babies at Love Link in San Salvador, El Salvador. Pray that the
Great Physician would heal these babies who arrive severely malnourished. Pray
for the now healthy babies as they are restored to their families, and that God
would continue His faithfulness as He provides for their needs.
Laura’s parents brought her to Love Link when she was eleven months old. Laura
needed pediatric surgery and had lived in the hospital for much of her life. She was
unable to gain weight and could not assimilate food. The hospital finally released her,
saying there was nothing more they could do. As they walked home, believing they
were taking their daughter home to die, Laura’s parents
passed Love Link. Desperate, they brought her into the
clinic. It was one of the worst cases of malnutrition
the clinic staff had ever seen. They experimented with
different formulas and finally found one that worked.
When Laura’s parents returned two weeks later, her
mother almost didn’t recognize her. Laura had gained
so much weight that she looked like a different child.
Love Link cares for children like Laura who suffer
from severe malnutrition. They are a link between
the children and God, providing hope and helping the
people of El Salvador learn about God’s faithful love.

The Sugandh Child Development
Centre, located in a slum in
South Delhi, has been transforming the lives of working children for
22 years. Before going to work as trash collectors in the marketplace,
children aged 6-10 come for two hours. They receive a meal and are
taught reading, writing, and mathematics. Here they also learn about
Jesus. Sugandh also operates a Bible and vocational skills school where
young adults and teenagers learn sewing, painting, and card making.
Sugandh offers savings and loan cooperative groups to women in the
slum who either don’t have the documentation needed for a bank
account or the cost of getting to a bank exceeds what they can save in a

groups has enabled women to buy small plots of land in their villages,
cover medical expenses, and fund their children’s education.

When Sugandh staff visited Jahid’s family in the slum, his father told them that
their youngest son, Jahid, had not been going to school for the past two years
because the government school would not admit him. Jahid was invited to join
Sugandh’s non-formal school, and there he was able to resume his education.
After two months of tuition help, a Sugandh teacher accompanied Jahid’s parents
in another attempt to admit him at the local government school, where they
learned the cause of the problems with admission - lack of required documents.
Sugandh was able to guide the parents through the process of getting the
necessary documents, and eventually, Jahid was finally admitted to the school.
While the process of obtaining official documents may be straightforward for
many people, for people who are poor and illiterate like Jahid’s parents, the whole
process is often too expensive or daunting. Sadly, this often means, as in Jahid’s
case, that their children miss out on the blessing of education.

Cairo, Egypt
Oakseed’s Ministry Partner since 2001
Teen Ministry seeks to win to Christ and improve the lives of severely
impoverished teenage girls living in the “garbage city” of Cairo, Egypt. Teen
Ministry primarily teaches these young girls to find joy in Christ; much
of their time is devoted to praying and studying the Bible. Teen Mnistry
teaches the girls who have never been taught hygine or cleanliness how to
wash themselves and make changes to improve their health through hygiene
in their homes and families. In the area that Teen Ministry operates, girls are
often abused and neglected. Teen Ministry shows them genuine love, often
for the first time in their lives. Teen Ministry also educates the girls and

gospel. Please pray that these girls would experience the joy that comes
from knowing Christ.

Nana was very disturbed when she came to the Teen Ministry’s center. Her father had
sent all of her sisters to school except her. Nana was 16 years old at that time, and she
still didn’t know how to read or write. Nana accepted the Lord Jesus as her
savior. She had to go through a lot of inner healing because
of the number of traumas in her life. She felt loved and
accepted by everyone at Teen Ministry, and that healed
her broken heart. They challenged Nana to learn how to
read, write, and continue her education. Nana accepted the
challenge; she graduated from university a couple of years
ago. She even started her own business, a small factory, five
years ago. Nana has influenced a lot of the girls to go back to
school just by sharing her own experience.
Underprivileged young people always hope to one
day eat at McDonalds or Kentucky Fried Chicken,
considered an expensive restaurant in the slums
of Cairo. Muslim men have been known to take
girls there for a meal to convince them to convert.
To combat this, Teen Ministry takes the girls to a
restaurant like KFC at least twice a year, removing
the temptation to put themselves in dangerous
situations trying to get a “fancy meal.”

“I have seen unbelievers from different communities come to saving faith in
Jesus Christ, some from areas where we labored and prayed many years without
any fruit. Many years ago, when I held prayer meetings with families living in
pavement-dwellings and in shanties along railway tracks, I never knew that God
would move so sovereignly and would one day provide them with permanent
homes of their own when the government relocated them from the railway tracks
or pavements. I have seen some of those saved become leaders and preachers in
our various house cells. Today I have a strong, relational ministering core team,
through whom we do in-house visits, counseling, helping people find suitable jobs,
visiting the sick, taking them to hospitals if necessary, and generally encouraging
and blessing people wherever we go.” – Ernest Albuquerque

Sometimes, you have no idea what God has planned. Several years ago, a laptop
was given to a Ministry Partner in India through the Bazaar Catalog. They had
shared a need for one laptop, but two had been given that year. A few weeks
later, Oakseed Founder Ed Bradley was visiting Mumbai and shared the news
over breakfast with the Directors. Later that morning, they met with the staff
and began sharing their concerns for prayer. At the top of the list was the loss of
their laptop computer which two staff had left in the back of a rickshaw after a
seminar. There had been tears, and the staff had all decided to give up a portion
of their salaries so that in six months they could get a replacement. There was
great disappointment at the future loss of productivity over the next few months.
The Director stood up and said, “Can I interrupt? Before we pray, I think God
has already answered our prayers! Ed has an announcement.” Ed stood up and
shared, “Through the Oakseed Bazaar, we have received funds for TWO laptops
for your ministry.” There was much cheering and tears as the staff jumped up and
down with joy. The Lord had graciously provided.

Oakseed’s Mission, Vision,
and Strategy
Since 1992, our mission has been for Oakseed Ministries to
assist indigenous ministries who serve abandoned children
and the poor in the developing world’s largest cities, bringing
the good news of Jesus in word and action.
The vision for Oakseed Ministries comes from Isaiah 61:3:
“to give them a beautiful headdress instead of ashes,
the oil of gladness instead of mourning, the garment of
praise instead of a faint spirit; that they may be called
oaks of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he
may be glorified.”
Oakseed aims to plant “oaks of righteousness” among the
poorest of the poor, breaking the chains of poverty with the
power of the gospel.
Our strategy is to empower Ministry Partners through:
n Prayer—Praying and mobilizing prayer partners in
support of Ministry Partners as they share the gospel and
work to bring transformation among the urban poor and
their communities.
n Capacity building—Helping fulfill the vision of the
indigenous ministry through long-term relationships
and creative entrepreneurial support, including the
development of income-generating and self-sustaining
projects.
n Training—Bringingministry expertise for
on-site training and counseling in response
to local needs.
n Financial Support—Providing financial
support for indigenous ministries without
creating dependency.
50 www.oakseed.org
Oakseed Ministry Partners are:
n Indigenous. Ministries are nationally initiated and locally founded,
developed, and administered.
n Targeted. Oakseed’s Ministry Partners focus on the urban poor living in the
world’s megacities.
n Exemplary. Oakseed seeks to partner with ministries that have the potential
to be models, teaching others how to replicate their methods and work.
n Teachable. Oakseed looks for Ministry Partners who are open to learning
from others and living in partnership.
n Visionary. Oakseed Ministry Partners have clearly defined visions and are
committed to pursuing those visions.
n Faithful. Ministry leaders are dedicated to serving the Lord and leading
their ministries with righteousness and integrity.
Through ongoing relationships,
Oakseed offers Ministry Partners:
n Regular and faithful prayer support.
n Ongoing financial support as well as support for special one-time projects.
(To avoid creating dependency, Oakseed support never exceeds 30% of an
organization’s operating budget. Oakseed also assists ministry leadership in
finding and developing their own funding resources.)
n On-site and off-site training, including international training programs that
offer a significant benefit for a partner’s leadership.
n Consultation and relationship building. Ministry Liaisons visit Ministry
Partners at least once a year and are available throughout the year to provide
advice and resources to assist the ministry in its development.

Our Ministry Liaisons
Oakseed’s Ministry Liaisons help identify potential Ministry Partners
and determine their suitability for an Oakseed partnership. Through
a process of site visits, checking references, and meeting with
the organization’s leadership, ministry liaisons evaluate potential
partners based on their ministry, reputation, focus, local support, and
community impact. Ministry Liaisons also consider how Oakseed can
partner with the ministry and the type of assistance the ministry would
like to receive from Oakseed.

Sponsor a Child in Need!
Missions is about people, and Oakseed believes in personal
missions. Our Ministry Partners come alongside a child in
need, encouraging and helping them, and demonstrating
the love of Jesus. The children in our sponsorship program
desperately need love, care, and faithful prayer. Through
sponsorship, you too have the opportunity to make a difference
in the life of a child by praying daily, sending occasional
correspondence, and giving a small monthly contribution.
To receive more information about our sponsorship
programs, please email info@oakseed.org or call us 703-876-
9020. We are happy to send you information about these
wonderful programs or answer any questions.
Hanna Orphan’s Home cares for 51 orphans among eight
different family settings, most of whom have tragically lost
their parents to the HIV/AIDS epidemic. In addition to the
small family-like houses, the children are enrolled in school
and go to Hanna Orphan’s Home after school each day, where
they receive a daily meal and participate in Bible studies.
Jesus’ Wind of Victory is a Christian orphanage in Jinja,
Uganda that supplies the daily physical, spiritual, and
educational needs of the 40 orphans in their care.
Love Link - Sponsor a Crib! Love Link provides roundthe-clock
care for up to 25 severely malnourished babies at
a time, nourishing them and eventually restoring them to
their families.
New Life Orphanage cares for 21 children aged 2-14, just
outside of Kampala, Uganda. New Life provides homegrown
food, shelter, education, and spiritual development.
Roblealto Child Care Association helps children and
families from the slums of Costa Rica, operating five
different centers for children from 9 months to 12 years old.
More children and programs are regularly added. Please visit
www.oakseed.org/sponsor for the latest information and to
choose a child so you can make a difference in their life.

Daily Prayer Request
Sign up at www.oakseed.org/dailyprayer to receive
a short prayer request from one of our Ministry
Partners in your email each day. This is a great way
to easily integrate prayer into your daily routines and
regularly lift up those serving on the frontlines of the
mission field in prayer. Or join us on social media to
see the daily prayer requests and engage with others
praying around the world.
Children’s Prayer Guide
Oakseed offers a special prayer guide for children ages 5-10.
Two convictions drive it: 1) children’s prayers are precious
to their heavenly Father, and 2) prayers of children for
children are a powerful means to make a difference. It is
free of charge to churches and families who request it. Sign
up through our email info@oakseed.org, website, or send a
written request to the address above.
