// MOBILE AROUND THE DANUBE CYCLE PATH
To make your individual travel plans easier, we
have compiled some information on arrival and
departure.
The national rail provides for a comfortable voyage –
even with a bike. Further details and timetable information
can be obtained directly from Deutsche Bahn
www.bahn.de or from ÖBB (Austrian national railways)
at oebb.at as well as from the ÖBB App.
Regional buses are also well-suited to reach the
Danube Cycle Path – www.postbus.at
Bicycle transport with the ÖBB (*)
Reservation and tickets: At the ÖBB, you can
take your bike in most local and long-distance trains.
A special ticket is available at the price of 10 % of the
full price (2nd class) of the desired journey, but costs
at least 2,– Euro. In addition, you can also purchase
weekly or monthly passes for your bike. With the
»Einfach-Raus« bike-ticket, small groups of two
to five people travel with their bikes for a reasonable
price all-day in all S-Bahn-, Regionalexpress- and
Regional-Trains. With »Biking International« you can
travel abroad by bike. Prices are set at a flat rate of 12,–
Euro for each route.
Long-distance transport: In regards to longdistance
transport (Railjet, Intercity, Eurocity, Nightjet),
it is compulsory to make a bike-reservation, due to the
limited number of bike racks.
Local Transport: no bike-reservations are required
on local transport (S-Bahn-, Regionalexpress- and
Regional-Trains).
Passau is the classic starting point for a multiday
tour along the Danube. The baroque town
Schärding is a perfect alternative for the start. If you
follow the Inn Cycle Path for only 16 km, you will reach
the city of Passau, which is also linked to the Danube
Cycle Path.
If you are coming by car, you have several possibilities
to park in Passau for the duration of your cycling
holiday:
