The Berlinpromotional pursuitfrom March 2-6paved the way for theacknowledgementof Selangor inthe Europeantravel market, despitethe cancellation of ITBBerlin 2020, througharranged Businessto-business(B2B) sessionswith local tour, travel and PRagencies, and a Government-to-Government (G2G) session with H.E.Datin Sarah Albakri Devadason,Ambassador of Malaysia to the FederalRepublic of Germany and TourismMalaysia officers in Berlin.Can you elaborate on the promotionalinitiatives pursued by TourismSelangor in 2020?For the year 2020, the State of Selangorwill be involved in more than 10established overseas travel trade fairsand sales missions. For a closer-toheartapproach, Tourism Selangorwill be involved in a local Roadshowto other States in Malaysia andparticipate in local Travel Fairs,Expos and Conventions to entice thedomestic market. Tourism Selangoralso focuses on mainstream media anddigital advertising local and overseaswith frequent media-buys, and otheradvertising approaches such asLED, stand-still Billboards and in-flightadvertising. Tourism Selangor has alsolaunched its brand-new and revampedofficial website, Selangor.Travel whichboasts an interactive interface andsmooth user experience.What is your vision for fostering thetourism industry in Selangor?The State of Selangor throughTourism Selangor is committedSelangor, just a stone’s throw fromKuala Lumpur, boasts numerousattractions, such as Batu Caves,Kuala Selangor Fireflies, theRoyal Selangor manufacturingplant, Bukit Melawati, Sekinchan,Selangor Fruit Valley, Mah MeriCultural Village, Sunway ThemePark, the “Sky Mirror”, andSelangor River Flireflies.Site of a Hindu temple and shrine,Batu Caves attract thousandsof worshippers and tourists,especially during the annual Hindufestival, Thaipusam. Incorporatedwith interior limestone formationssaid to be around 400 millionyears old, the temple is consideredan important religious landmarkby Hindus. Monkeys frolic aroundthe caves, and it is a popular spotfor rock climbing enthusiasts.in strengthening the tourism industryfrom its core by leveraging in distinctivetourism segmentation such asmedical, golf, MICE and eco-tourism.It is crucial to prepare the Statefor the official Visit Selangor Year2021 Campaign tailing down from theVisit Malaysia Year 2020 Campaign.The State has taken several measuresto enhance the tourism industry suchas the Selangor P3S Programme whichwas implemented to encouragetourism operators in Selangor to applyfor a proper licence to ensure a wellsupervisedoperation on their end andthe safety of their visitors. The State hasalso come out with a 5-year TourismMaster Plan commences 2021until 2026, mostly to support theupcoming Visit Selangor Year 2021Campaign initiatives.SELANGOR – HOME TOCOUNTLESS ATTRACTIONSNot far from here, visitors arealso able to get a look behind thescenes at Royal Selangor, theworld’s foremost name in qualitypewter.
