for ICM Father‟s 

Heart Conference 

Paul says in Colossians 1:6, “All over the 

world this gospel is bearing fruit and 

growing, just as it has been doing among 

you since the day you heard it and 

understood God‟s grace in all its truth.” 

(NIV 1984) 

In the past, the work of the Lord strived 

through sacrifices of many men and 

women and today it is no exception. The 

work of the Lord is still bearing fruit and is 

growing because many willing to sacrifice 

their time, talents and money to see the lost 

world coming to the saving knowledge of 

Christ. 

Praise God the Lord has opened doors for 

ICM to start a new work in Nepal and 

currently we have 17 students who will be 

graduating and ready to serve God by next 

year. We will start a second training centre 

early next year at the mountainous region 

of Nepal. 

The work we are having with the 

Philippines National Police (PNP) is also 

bearing much fruit with more men in 

uniform attending church. One of the 

Generals in PNP in his speech 

acknowledged the work of ICM and we 

were also interviewed by 2 television 

stations. 

The work in Democratic Republic of the 

Congo is in its second year and fifteen of 

the first batch students have preaching 

points. We have to limit the intake of the 

second year students to twenty students as 

we do not have space. 

The work in East and West Malaysia has 

also borne fruit. We are now networking 

with a denomination and through this 

partnership two churches were planted. 

In Indonesia, the training has reached 

Papua and there is a growing cry for more 

workers. In East Timor, we are looking for 

fulltime Bahasa speaking workers. 

We also praise God for the many, whose 

life has been touched and transformed by 

the short term mission (STM). For the first 

time we had the deaf and mute go to 

missions. It was truly encouraging to see 

their love and passion for the lost and we 

pray that many more will join us this 

coming year. 

The work of ICM is bearing fruit and 

growing because of the many men and 

women who have given their time, talent 

and finances to seek and save the lost and 

we at ICM are grateful to them and most 

of all we give all glory, honor and praise to 

our Lord and God for without whom we 

will not be able to accomplish anything.

Bukit Kemandol with a medical team from 

Gethsemane Medical Care.

Presbyterian Church teaching English to the

currently doing a study about illiterate 

communities on how English is conducted and

Bro Edwin was invited to preach at Zoe Christian 

Fellowship Missions Sunday. He challenged the 

church not only to be church goers but to go to the 

missions field, to be a channel bringing divine 

resources to meet the human needs, to heal the 

sick and to set the captives free.

It was indeed a trip full of surprises and wonders. What had 

been planned was totally altered due to the unexpected 

circumstances. As Proverbs 19:21 says, “Many are the plans in 

a man’s heart, but it is the LORD’s purpose that prevails” (NIV). 

“All these years, I’ve been to many trips, but this was the best 

Cameron trip so far!” said Bro Steven Toh, leader of the team 

comprising 15 people. †

When the team visited Salim’s house, he looked 

gloomy and weak. All this while he stayed at home 

and was jobless because of the pain he suffered 

due to kidney stones. After saying ‘yes’ to receive 

Jesus Christ, the team prayed for him. 

Then, his countenance changed! Salim started to 

speak in tongues and raised his hands up in the 

midst of prayer.

exposure trip for three of us since we are new at

The two-day seminar at Ipoh Pantu Longhouse was 

attended by approximately 30 believers. Praise the 

Lord that the village chief, Tuai Rumah Menari had

is an inter-denominational centre under SIB 

Semenanjung for all who need training in ministry. 

President of SIB Semenanjung, Ps Danil Raut 

addressed the attendees that the training of Orang 

Aslis is pivotal these days. Ps Lam Heng Seng who 

was invited to speak during the launch also urged 

the people to be involved actively in the OA 

ministry, especially in the area of training so that 

they are equipped to reach out to their own 

community.

“As usual, I went with uncertainty and felt that I 

was not well prepared. But when we were there, He 

always has something for us. When I looked pass 

the circumstances, and surrendered everything to 

Him who can do the impossible, my heart was

Praise God that all went well with this conference! It can 

never be done without His provision and providence. 

ICM Malaysia would like to thank all the participants for 

coming along to learn more and get equipped in their own 

ministries; to all speakers for giving us the insights and 

encouragement to the people; not forgetting all the 

sponsors, supporters and intercessors for making this 

conference a success.

ICM Malaysia held a conference a few years ago, but this 

time around seeing the need among the Bahasa speaking 

churches, we came to agreement to have one with the 

theme based on 1 Corinthians 4:15, “Even though you have 

ten thousands guardians in Christ, you do not have many 

fathers, for in Christ Jesus I became your father through the 

gospel.” 

To speak on “Father’s Heart”, we had invited Ps Jaap 

Dieleman from the Netherlands as the theme speaker, along 

with Bro Khoo Hin Hiong and Dr Wong Hong Meng who 

spoke on “Team Building” and “Managing Church Finances” 

respectively. 

A total of 117 people from 36 churches and organisations, 

and different backgrounds, came from all over Malaysia at 

Peacehaven to listen to the Father’s Heart. They are the 

people involved in Bahasa ministries among the natives,

especially the Orang Aslis, and Bumiputras from Sabah & 

Sarawak. Among them are Ps Pakpahan and his friends 

from Sumatra, Indonesia. 

On the first night, Bro Edwin opened the conference with a 

sharing of the work of ICM and that through the ministry of 

ICM, hundreds of churches had been planted by ordinary 

people via networking with their churches. He also 

challenged the pastors not to see the incapabilities of their 

members but to disciple and send them out, like Jesus did. 

Bro Edwin then closed the night with a prayer that all 

would have the Father’s Heart in these last days. 

After a time of praise and worship and breakfast, the 

second day session started off with Dr Wong Hong Meng, 

speaking on “Managing Church Finances”. He made it clear 

that the finances for ministry and church is a separate 

entity from personal and family finances, regardless the 

size of ministry and church and whether it’s an individual 

ministry. 

In the afternoon, Bro Khoo took over with a brief sharing on 

the relationship between a father and a son. He shared that 

a leader is unable to love the sheep under his guard without 

first understanding and experiencing the Father’s Love 

personally. At night, Bro Khoo got the people to visualize 

the importance of teamwork in the work of God’s Kingdom. 

He stressed that each team member has a role to play in 

order to have multiplication.

On the third and the fourth day, Ps Jaap Dieleman journeyed 

together with the people through the theme. He highlighted 

the differences between a Father and a King, and between 

Real Apostle and False Apostle. He mentioned the need to 

forgive those who had misled us in wrong doctrines. 

Throughout his sessions, he shared about the burden to 

father the fatherless. 

A workshop was also held to discuss about the challenges 

the church of Malaysia is facing currently. Ps Alfred Tais 

from National Evangelical Christian Fellowship (NECF) was 

invited to share on current issues and to encourage the 

pastors and leaders who minister among Bahasa speaking 

people. A panel consisting Ps Alfred, Bro Edwin and Bro 

Jimmy was formed to give feedback and answer questions 

on the issues discussed. 

Besides the sessions, there were time for games too.

experiences and testimonies. It was truly a time which 

many, if not all, will remember for the rest of our life.

“It was my first time leading a medical team and I was 

very worried about the trip. During the preparation, I felt 

that it was the worst experience in my life because 

everything wasn‟t going fine in my own ways! But I

The skulls which were kept by the Iban elderly in the 

longhouse were put in boxes, ready to be buried 

ICM in Sarawak, East Malaysia brought a 

team to Ng Lalang and Lubuk Tabau 

longhouses. The Ibans were noted for 

headhunting in the early years. Two 

individuals surrendered their skulls, which 

were hung in their longhouses, to be 

buried. Rev Dennis and the ICM team

A group of 12 from the Deaf Ministry of 

Canning Garden Baptist Church Ipoh set out 

to go to the mission field for the very first 

time. With great passion and uniqueness, 

each had their own testimonies which they 

shared with the Orang Aslis in Cameron 

Highlands. Together with another group 

from KL, this team ministered to at least 30 

adults and approximately 70 children in both 

Trisu 4 and Bertam village. †

handmade crafts

how God loves this people. My 

heart was touched that I wanted to

Despite a small group of four, there was much joy and 

laughter during this trip to Kampung Terbol, 

Temerloh. By faith and with a simple guide as told by 

Ps Ajos, the team ultimately reached Temerloh an 

hour earlier than the planned time.

New Testament in Jahut language. It

During the recent visit of Bro Edwin and Bro Dorai to the 

Philippines, the policemen were encouraged and inspired 

to better serve the public. Altogether, there were about 

100 graduates in both San Fernando and Aringay, La 

Union.

It was a joy for Ps Bakar and the team of 8 who 

went to Sungai Pelek for missions. Mangga who is a 

non believer, always avoids meeting mission 

teams. She was cooking at the deck of her house 

during our house visitation and we quickly seized 

the opportunity to talk and invite both her and her 

husband to church service later that night. She 

came alone and she accepted Christ at the end of 

the service! † 


Bro David, an American who works in 

Singapore and Ps Moses from Myanmar 

came to visit Ps Bakar and the church in 

Bukit Bangkong where Bro David once 

ministered for a few years. At the end of 

Sunday service, Bro Peter led in prayer for 

them to train and plant new churches in 

Myanmar. 

The BSIB graduation held recently at Li Hua Hotel, Bintulu was celebrated 

with a congregation of approximately 100 people. Bro Dorai was sent to 

present certificates of completion on behalf of ICM to the graduates. At the 

end of the ceremony, we witnessed the water baptism of 4 youths. After 

that, a feast followed as the celebration ended with praises and gladness.

ICM Sarawak organized a camp for 39 men. It was 

held at the Sematan Silk Farm, Kuching. 

It was a new experience for the men to know the 

qualities of a real man as intended by God. Many 

shared that their perception towards relationship 

with God had changed. † 

In closing, all participants made commitment to work 

their salvation out as God works in their lives 

These are the men who are challenged to impact the world around them 

through Kingdom‟s life style and values

Centre, Langkawi. There are many Indonesians and East 

Malaysians working there. Praise God for Bro Ernest 

who has a burden to reach them and disciple them 

through the ICM modules. There are 25 who are being 

trained in Langkawi now. †

I am a lecturer by profession. 

I got to know about ICM when I attended the Thanksgiving Night in January this year, at the 

invitation of my former church friend, John Nehru. Before that, I did not know about the 

existence of ICM. Though I have done my own Orang Asli missions work in Simpang Pulai 

and in Muadzam Shah, joining ICM this year have enhanced my own ministry among the 

Orang Aslis. I have learnt how to prepare myself spiritually for preaching and praying for 

the sick in Bahasa. 

This year I joined in a number of ICM mission trips, and I am very happy with the way things 

are being organized and done. Whereas in the past I was not properly organized whenever I 

go for any mission trips, in ICM I learnt the proper way of organizing mission trips, right 

down to the minutest detail. I learnt new things from each of these mission trips. 

And the opportunity to meet other Christians from different churches and denominations who 

have the same passions and desires for missions is another factor why ICM appeals to me. 

No matter which background we come from, we are all united to bring the good news to the 

unsaved. I find this very apparent in ICM. Furthermore, the staff in ICM have been very 

wonderful, helpful and caring. 

I am privileged being part of this organization, and joining them in this glorious work that 

they are doing for God's glory. My only prayer is for more Christians to play an active part 

in missions work, whether locally or abroad. Giving financially or being a prayer partner is 

nothing compared with actually going into the mission field yourself.
