Unique Anzac Day leaves indelible mark<br />
AnzacDay commemoration ... Lauren Hancox,<br />
of Rangiora,marks Anzac Day with her newborn<br />
son, Zinzan Nicholson, at the Rangiora Health<br />
Hub. Zinzan was bornat8.11am on <strong>April</strong> 22, three<br />
hoursafter Lauren arrived at the healthhub for the<br />
birth. Lauren’s partner, DanielNicholson,was<br />
present for his son’sbirth but wasonly allowedto<br />
stay for four hours under level4 restrictions.<br />

We willremember them ... Haylee Marsh and Kharleah Van Lent, both8,who attend<br />
Rangiora Borough School, made aposter for theirfence at hometocommemorate Anzac<br />
Day. The pair are studying at home online.<br />
Recycled bags ... The Robinson family made<br />
poppies from recycled shopping bags using<br />
instructions on YouTube. They put them along<br />
their roadside fence north of Rangiora, and on<br />
apower pole for the district to enjoy, Bridgitt<br />
Robinson says.<br />
Dawn remembrance ... Bagpiper Lucas Paterson, aged 13, of<br />
Okuku, at asmall community Anzac Day dawn commemoration<br />
on Birch Hill Road in Okuku.<br />
Red and black ... Homemade poppies became afamiliar sight<br />
around the region.<br />
Fallen honoured ... The Amuri Mounted Rifles Troop,with four horses fullymounted, and the fallen<br />
soldier’s horse, stand at 6am at theWorldWar 1memorial at The Peaks,northwest of Hawarden. The<br />
horses were fromthe Anzac MountsEquine Rehab Unit stables. TheLast Post was played, as were<br />
the national anthems of New Zealand and Australia.<br />
Special remembrance ... Residents in the Amberley Rest Home and Retirement<br />
Studios bubble mark the day.
