Ronald McDonald House
The Ronald McDonald House of
Connecticut is a temporary “home
away from home” for families of
children who are being treated at
nearby hospitals and healthcare
facilities, such as the Children’s
Hospital at Yale-New Haven, Yale-
New Haven Hospital, The Hospital
of St. Raphael, and Bridgeport
Hospital. They will house any child
and their family, regardless of their

ability to pay. This allows all
families to be close to their
children, while maintaining their
privacy with private bedrooms,
bathrooms and lockable areas
in community kitchens. The
relief this can provide for a
family with a sick child is
immense and All American
Waste is proud to support them
through their golf tournament
and Trees of Hope events.
Hitchcock Center
USA Waste & Recycling is now
sponsoring tours of the Hitchcock
Center in Amherst, MA. The
Center is one of only 23 buildings
in the world that has achieved the
status of “living,” meaning it is
designed to model systems in
nature. It has net zero energy and
water, has composting toilets, and
has been made with responsibly
sourced non-toxic materials. Tours
of the building are offered to the
public free of charge, and the
Center hosts a variety of other
sustainable community programs
throughout the year.
