Southbridge win
tense battle in
top-of-the-table clash

SOUTHBRIDGE and Waihora
put on a fitting top-of-the-table
clash in the Coleman Shield at
Tai Tapu on Saturday.
Southbridge came out on
top 20-15 after the scores were
tied 10-10 at half-time. Neither
side gave any quarter in a tense
battle.
Waihora gets this weekend off
with the bye while Southbridge,
alone at the top-of-the-table,
should have a relatively troublefree
appointment with Hornby.
Hornby put up a much more
spirited performance on Saturday
against West Melton, going down
11-27. But they will be no match
for the competition juggernaut,
Southbridge.
Lincoln’s will have home
ground advantage in their bid to
get the season on track against a
tricky Darfield on Saturday.
Lincoln beat Springston 24-17
at the weekend but Darfield will
be a stiffer test.

Southbridge’s Isileli Fine charges like a battering ram.
