Planting for a greener future
West Melton School pupils, including Sarah and Millie (above), got
out their shovels to plant native trees at Kowhai Sanctuary. The event
was held as part of the Kids Discovery Plantout programme. They
planted Totara, Tī Kōuka and Kanuka trees. They also engaged in insect
monitoring and were challenged to create something out of the natural
resources that resembled the Māori legend Rūaumoko.
