By DAVID HILL
The next two months could be busy in
Kaikoura, should New Zealand return
to alert level 1.
While Covid19 has created some
uncertainty, plenty of events are
planned in the tourist town in coming
weeks, depending on the alert level.
The Kaikoura Whale Run scheduled
for September 5has been cancelled, but
the town is gearing up for the Kaikoura
Hop from September 16 to 19, while the
Kaikoura Spring Festival and Lip Sync
competition are planned for October.
Residents are undeterred by the
cancellation of the inaugural Kaikoura
Winter Festival because of level 2, and
will bounce back with the inaugural
Spring into Summer Festival from
October 2to4.
There’s neverbeen
for August, but will now be on October 3,
with residents encouraged to ‘‘double
up and wander the streets of Kaikoura’’
in their lip sync costume. More details
will be available closer to the event.
One event which is going ahead is the
Porsche Club of New Zealand’s visit
The Kaikoura council has been
working to create events during quieter
