THE SAYING may well
have been the catchcry in
Southbridge’s 40-32 win over
Waihora in the Coleman Shield
final at Southbridge on Saturday.
All Blacks legend Dan Carter
was always going to be potentially
an ace card in his third match
this season for Southbridge, and
in many ways it proved to be.
Waihora led 24-22 at half-time
in what was always going to be a
tough contest.
But early in the second
half Carter scored a try and
landed the conversion to
give Southbridge the buffer it
needed to ease away from
Waihora.
Carter said he was elated to
win the shield, adding to what
has been a stellar career.
