The extent of a remodel depends onthe age of the equipment, number of carwashes,and the budget. In some cases,small incremental improvements can bemade. In others, all new equipment maybe required.However, since providing a good, efficientcleaning is the heart of any carwashoperation, “one of the first thingsthat gets replaced are the brushes, suchas cloth or foam, which is very noticeableto customers,” says O’Connell.“Changing out the cloth or foam is oneof the easiest ways to spruce up the lookof a carwash.”The visual upgrade is all the morestriking when all the items are changedat the same time, which can give customersthe impression that you haveinvested in brand new equipment toenhance the wash. We rely onthem to get it right because we are notnecessarily the cloth experts. So, theyneed to be available to look at the installationeven if through photos becausesometimes these are very old units.
