Together
through
bread
Do you know your Samoon from your
Balady? Or why a Montrealer would
say they make the best bagels in the
world? Well, sign up to one of the FREE
Together Through Bread workshops
and you might just find out! A series of
workshops starting in October will run
at venues in Christchurch including the
Philipstown Community Hub. Breads
from Somalia, Egypt, Iraq, Canada and
more will be baked and shared along
with stories and traditions from around
the globe.
Together Through Bread is a
collaborative project setup between
A Communal Loaf, Plains FM and
Canterbury Workers Educational
Association (CWEA) and co-created with
a diverse range of Ōtautahi-Christchurch
ethnic communities. Each workshop
will focus on celebrating a different
ethnic group and their cultural traditions
associated with bread and food as well
as providing a place for conversation,
discussion, learning, developing
understanding, and connection. The
workshops will be recorded as part
of a podcast series to be broadcast by
PlainsFM and are generously supported
by the Office of Ethnic Communities.
