Year8classes took partinthe Kaiapoi<br />

Borough School competition,sponsored by<br />

the Lions ClubofPegasus Town.<br />

Angela Te Whaiti, 13, wassecond and Stefan<br />

Hillis, 13, wasthird.<br />

Caprece’sposterwill now be entered into<br />

the nextstageofthe competition to choose the<br />

Lions District 202E winner.<br />

Then, from districtwinners, anational<br />

winner willbechosen to represent New<br />

Zealandinthe international sectionofthe<br />

competitiontobejudged in Chicago.<br />

The Lions ClubofPegasusTown eventcoordinator,<br />

Brian Attenborough,said the<br />

judges for theKaiapoi Borough School entries<br />

hadadifficult jobchoosingawinnerbecause<br />

of thehighstandard.<br />

Lionsclubs worldwide have sponsoredthe<br />

competitionfor nearlythree decades, with<br />

each club supporting young artists from a<br />

schoolorayouth group in theirareafor the<br />

initial partofthe competition.<br />

This year, more than450,000students<br />

entered the competition,for students whowill<br />

be 11, 12, or 13 by November15.<br />

Each contestant hadtocreate apeace<br />

posterwhichdemonstrates theirvisionof<br />

peace and inspires theworldthrough artand<br />

creativity.<br />
