the way we approach human health
has the potential to change everything.
We are redefi ning what’s achievable through
science. Our graduates leave extremely prepared,
not just to keep up with the changing landscape,
but to lead the way. Here, students get the
support, resources and opportunities they need
to redefi ne their own potential, and to reimagine
their roles as college students, pharmacists,
researchers, lab technologists and health
care providers—helping to make the
entire fi eld more human,
more personal.

THE STUDY OF
HUMAN HEALTH IS
NO EASY ENDEAVOR.
IT’S A CALLING.
Across all of our programs, the
work demands extraordinary
focus because of what the world
needs from us. When students at
Albany College of Pharmacy and
Health Sciences first step onto
campus, put on their fi rst pair of
lab goggles and balance their first
chemical equation, they’ve started
on a path that will help define the
future of human health.
Here, it’s all possible—and more.
It’s our mission to prepare the
next generation of leaders to work
together to push humanity forward.
And the future lies within us. You could discover the next
breakthrough in health care, the cure for the next viral
disease, a new solution to the challenges of old age—these
possibilities and so much more are yours to explore here
and beyond graduation. Our academic programs take you
out of the classroom at every juncture and introduce you
to experiences that help you think on your feet.
passion and fuel your interest in
human health. Your experience
with us can change the landscape
of the fi eld for years to come.
In all of our academic programs, your individual career goals
are the priority of our faculty and staff. They prepare you for
life outside the classroom and lab with capstone projects,
internships and research initiatives.
From there, your path can lead to making an impact as a
microbiologist, a forensic scientist, or even as a public health
data analyst. Should you find yourself wanting to continue your
education in the Health Sciences, ACPHS offers five master’s
degree programs.
YOUR DISCOVERY CONTINUES AT ACPHS.EDU
Our academic affiliation with Albany Medical College
(AMC) gives students the opportunity to pursue early
admission into AMC’s master’s program in Physician
Assistant Studies. If your interest lies in health law, we
offer a six-year joint degree program with neighboring
Albany Law School.

MICROBIOLOGY
Through the study of bacteria, fungi and viruses, microbiologists
discover how microorganisms can pose threats to human
health. At ACPHS, the lab will become your second classroom,
allowing you to gain a deeper understanding of the field through
real-life research experience. After completing the program,
graduates typically gain employment in research laboratories,
pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities and medical diagnostic
laboratories. Others have gone on to further their education,
obtaining graduate degrees or professional degrees in fi elds
such as medicine, dentistry and veterinary studies.
BIOMEDICAL TECHNOLOGY
In the future, AI algorithms will replace invasive testing
methods, and wearables will detect illness before a patient
shows any symptoms. As a biomedical technologist, it’s your
job to harness this technology to make medical advancements.
Our program is designed for students interested in immediately
entering the workforce as well as those who wish to continue
their education. Choose from ACPHS’ dual degree programs in
Clinical Laboratory Sciences or Cytotechnology & Molecular
Cytology, and receive both a bachelor’s and master’s degree
in just five years.
CLINICAL LAB SCIENCES
HEALTHCARE IS ONE OF
THE FASTEST-GROWING
CATEGORIES IN THE
TECH INDUSTRY
Unlike pharmacy’s focus on direct patient care, the study of
Pharmaceutical Sciences has a strong research foundation
to better prepare students for careers in drug analysis and
manufacturing and those interested in applying to medical
school. That means that as a pharmaceutical scientist, you
work to discover and develop new drug therapies long before
they are prescribed. ACPHS graduates have gone on to
complete master’s, professional and Ph.D. programs at places
like Northeastern University, University of Pennsylvania and
Vanderbilt University.
There are 7 billion diagnostic tests performed in the United
States each year. At ACPHS, we teach the precision necessary
to successfully analyze these tests. The curriculum has been
designed to provide you with a strong scientifi c foundation
that will inform how you approach, interpret and reflect on your
work in the lab. Then, you will continue to sharpen your skills
through learned research techniques and clinical rotations
at a nearby community hospital or major medical center.
In the past three years, every CLS graduate has passed the
Board of Certification examination—a requirement for anyone
entering this profession.
PUBLIC HEALTH
Today more than ever, we need experts in healthcare,
addiction, infectious disease and environmental hazards
who can revolutionize global health. Through a diverse
curriculum with courses ranging from biology to sociology,
public health students learn the skills needed to better
understand a variety of roles in community health, services,
education and research. Our public health graduates are
working to create a better, healthier world through leadership
roles with organizations such as the New York State
Department of Health, American Cancer Society, Juvenile
Diabetes Research Foundation, Scribe America and more.
PHARMACY
In order to understand patient needs, you must understand
the patient as a whole, which is why we work to bring students
out from behind the pharmacy counter. Our students are
prepared with hands-on experience and a resourceful,
inventive and adaptable attitude. As a pharmacist, the reach
of your life’s work extends beyond the clinical setting you
choose—directly impacting the health of every life you touch.
When you receive your Pharm.D. at ACPHS, you’ll be creating
a healthier life for every person you serve.
PUTTING OUR
PROMISE INTO
PRACTICE
S
tudents at ACPHS learn beyond the lab—sometimes far
beyond. We have established two not-for-profit pharmacies
in underserved communities to not only provide an enhanced
educational opportunity for our students, but to improve
pharmacy access to areas that need it the most. These studentoperated
pharmacies are among only a handful in the nation,
and give students the chance to develop the skills necessary to
become vital members of the changing health care world.
Our newest community-based initiative is The Collaboratory.
Through this “laboratory for collaboration,” ACPHS will
partner with local non-profi ts to address issues of importance
in the surrounding communities, such as improving the
use of preventative health services. The Collaboratory also
includes a classroom where students and faculty will provide
health education programs to area residents.
