if they had noticed any sign of a kill. They
said that the wild pigs cleaned up any
dead stock so it was not possible to say.
Good luck with this story – I would
love to see some research done to turn up
more evidence.

It is a retrograde step to take a way
the coloured buses and replace with one
colour suits all.
I use a walker and when waiting for
a bus it was easy to spot the dedicated
colour buses from the rest and then be
prepared in sufficient time to be ready to
board the bus I required.
Currently the lettering size is very difficult
to identify from a distance and this
aspect needs to be investigated and be

New bus colour
Like Charmayne Forster (The Star, Oct 1),
I am concerned about the new bus livery.
The buses may look great, but will present
problems for even normally-sighted people.
Their destinations are very difficult to
read from a distance.
Locally, two routes run on the same
road with only 1min between their times.
They are almost at the stop before it is
possible to distinguish one from the other.
Most inconvenient for the drivers as well
as potential passengers.
At busy stops such as outside Westfield,
it will become necessary to walk the
length of the line-up to check each bus as
it pulls in.
Metro’s answer to this complaint was
that when a colour-coded bus has not
been available people have still managed
to identify their bus. This is just not good
enough.
If the new livery is to be used, then the
name or number of the route must be
Unmarked police cars
I’ve just read that Canterbury police
have got three new unmarked cars to
catch and possibly fine motorists slightly
over the limit.
Firstly, there is a law stating minimum
limits at which fines can be applied, which
I believe is 9km/h during non-holiday
periods.
Secondly, are they also going to fine the
super slow drivers who travel excessively
and dangerously slowly and I find far
exceed the numbers of speeding drivers?

Southern Motorway
Today we came north on new motorway
and live in Halswell. There is an off-ramp
to Hornby and says Hornby.
I think it should say Halswell as well
because once you pass that off ramp it’s
too late to go to Halswell.
We had to keep going to Sockburn offramp
and double back to Halswell as we
didn’t know there wasn’t an off-ramp for
Halswell.
