DROP-EX PLUS

EXPLOSIVE DETECTION & ID KIT

Tests for the widest possible range of explosive types due to

its ability to detect improvised chlorate and peroxide-based

explosives. Peroxide-based explosives are powerful substances

that can be prepared from several over-the-counter

materials and is currently in use by terrorist groups. This

explosive is commonly known by its abbreviation TATP (tri acetone

tri peroxide). The Drop-Ex Plus reagents come in dropper

bottles for ease of use in field and laboratory investigation.

The initial sample can be tested using Drop-Ex 1, 2, and 3. The

test for chlorates, broides, and peroxide-based explosives

must be a separate test using Drop-Ex A and B.

CRIME SCENE TOOLS

DETECTION RANGE:

Drop-Ex #1 for Group A

(Nitroaromatics) This group includes TNT, Tetryl, TNB, DNT, pioric acid and its salts.

Drop-Ex #2 for Group B

(Nitrate esters and nitramines) This group includes Dynamite, Nitroglycerine, RDX, C4,

PETN, Semtex H, Nitrocellulose, and smokeless powder. Note; most plastic types of explosives

belong to this group.

Drop-Ex #3 for Inorganic Nitrates

This group includes ANFO (ammonium nitrate-fuel oil), commercial and improvised

explosives based on inorganic nitrates, black powder, flash powder, gun powder, potassium

nitrate, and ammonium nitrate.

Drop-Ex A for Chlorates and Bromates

This group includes potassium chlorate and sodium chlorate.

Drop-Ex B for Peroxide-based Compounds

This group includes TATP and HMTD. Requires Drop-Ex A to be used first. If you are not

sure which group you are testing, you will need two samples for testing.

FERROTRACE

Ferrotrace is a non-toxic iron detection spray that reveals invisible

iron traces left on a suspect’s hands after touching a weapon.

Ferrotrace offers superior sensitivity, convenience, and ease of

use over other available field tests. Even after a weapon has been

removed from a crime scene, an officer can quickly screen a large

number of people by spraying Ferrotrace directly onto hands or environmental

surfaces such as paper. If a suspect was in contact with a

weapon containing uncoated iron elements, the invisible iron traces

will turn a dark violet color.
