Actors prepare for halloween script<br />

There’s halloween Fright Night<br />

fun at thePlains Museumin<br />

Tinwald on Saturday and30<br />

young actors from Big Little<br />

Theatre Company (BLTC)will<br />

be there to share their horror<br />

skills.<br />

Fright NightisaBLTC<br />

fundraiser for next year’s<br />

production and was first held in<br />

2018.<br />

There aretwo sessions, one<br />

from 6pm until 7.30pm, aimed<br />

at junior halloweenfans,and<br />

another for adults that runs<br />

from 8pm until 10pm.<br />

Those brave enough to come<br />

along will follow apath through<br />

the Plains Museum andwill<br />

encounter scares and creepy<br />

occurrences along the way.<br />

Some30youngBLTCactors<br />

will be on site to add to the<br />

horror experience.<br />

Junior entry is $5 andit’s $10<br />

for adults. There is also acashonly<br />

sausage sizzle.<br />

Hunt on for Christmas families<br />

Santa’s little helper, Carol Johns, is<br />

callingfor people from all corners of the<br />

district to enter in the <strong>Ashburton</strong>Santa<br />

Parade on December 5.<br />

The annual event,which draws<br />

thousands of peopletodowntown<br />

<strong>Ashburton</strong>, has anew route this year due<br />

to ongoing revitalisationwork in the<br />

centralbusiness district.<br />

‘‘This year dueto Baring Square<br />

closure we will be going round the block<br />

from Mona Square, down EastStreet on<br />

to Havelock into CassStreet andback to<br />

Mona Square,’’ Mrs Johns said.<br />

It starts from MonaSquareat12.30pm.<br />

Mrs Johns is also callingfor family<br />

entries this year and theywill havea<br />

chance to win $500 for thebestfamily<br />

entry.<br />

‘‘I have hadentries already from<br />

families but would love lots more,’’ she<br />

said.<br />

<strong>Ashburton</strong>’s SeniorNet is marking<br />

fraud awareness weekwithanopen<br />

event on November24tohelp<br />

peopleidentify scams.<br />

SeniorNet chairman John Burns<br />

said most people were aware of<br />

scams but with newer andmore<br />

sophisticatedscams doingthe<br />

rounds, it was timely foranupdate.<br />

The openseminar would tell<br />

peoplewhat to look outfor, not only<br />

on the internet but also phone,<br />

email, post and thosetrying to sell at<br />

yourdoor.<br />

The seminar will be in the main<br />

hall at the Sinclair Centre and there<br />
