The youth of Hurunui
boogied the nightaway at the

night.
The annualjunior youth
formal, NeonNui, was
hosted by the Hurunui Youth
Programme.
Fiftyyear 7­10students
from Cheviot Area School
and Hurunui College danced
underthe neon lights.
It was acommunity effort,
with alocalDJ, local bus
drivers, and HYP
representation.
Hurunui District Council
youthdevelopment officer
Ward Shearmansaid it was a
big success thanks to everyone
who helped, including
MayorMarie Black, who
turned up for aboogie, and
the Rata Foundation.
“Everyone came together
and absolutely loved it, and
the messages comingfrom
parents the following day
was that they were
absolutely fizzing,’’ he says.
It had been atrickyyear
for holdingsocial gatherings,
so everyone was excited to
see it go ahead.
“It was so cool to have so
many youth together.”

MID-TERM ELECTIONS
Nominations close for the election of two parent
representatives to the Board of Trustees for Rangiora High
School on Sunday 1November 2020 at 12 noon. The
positions are for athree-year termuntil December 2023.
A nomination form and instruction sheet can be
downloaded from the Rangiora High School website,
www.rangiorahigh.school.nz, or obtained from the School
Office. Forms have already been sent by email to parents
and caregivers of existing Rangiora HS students.
Nomination forms may be uploaded to the Rangiora High
School Election Portal or emailed to the returning officer
before the above time.
Hard copies may also be leftatthe school office up to 4pm
on Friday 30 October 2020.
The positions will also be of interest to parents of students
who will be attending Rangiora High School for the first
time in 2020, and allow them the opportunity to be involved
in the governance of the school and working to ensure
that students achieve their highest possible standards of
educational achievement.
