In collaboration with Osaka University, Riken Vitamin has developed a new technology which enables
the control of crystal size polylactide resin in nano order. Based on this technology, Riken Vitamin
will be making a presentation on [Transparent flexible polylactide resin compound Rikemaster-GPR-
075]
Polylactide resin, considered as rigid plastic, is a crystalline resin. When it is softened by compounding
with plasticizer, it results in lower glass transition point (Tg). As for softened polylactide resin which
is near room temperature. When Tg is lowered, crystallization slowly occurs and results in the
alteration of part property such as degradation of transparency and increase in modulus /(=hardening).
Riken Vitamin has developed a plasticizer matching the compatibility of polylactic acid and applied this
technology which enables the control of crystal size in nano order to sustain the transparency, a
feature of polylactide resin. The plasticizer has also succeeded in providing softening as well.
This [transparent flexible polylactide resin compound Rikemaster-GPR-075 ] based on this technology
will be developed into soft application which requires transparency such as wrapping film and
agricultural film.
