COMPANY PROFILE<br />

The Institute of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering (IBGE) at Chulalongkorn University was<br />

established on September 29, 1983. IBGE is well equipped, containing apparatuses needed for<br />

activities ranging from basic analysis to pilot plant operation. The IBGE major scope of works<br />

includes integrating human resources by accommodating various selected faculty members to form<br />

a critical mass of valuable human resources in conducting specific biotechnological research and<br />

development and in teaching biotechnology within the framework of the organized structure of<br />

Chulalongkorn University. Research and development with the ultimate goal of applications in<br />

industrial operation through coordination, collaboration, and agreements with government agencies<br />

and the private sectors is another task of IBGE. In house technological development and selective<br />

acquisition from external suppliers, followed by pilot scale verification are conducted to demonstrate<br />

the technological potential application to industry. Besides, IBGE provides academic training and<br />

personnel development through collaborative teaching and training programs, such as multi-disciplinary<br />

Master’s Degree Programs in Biotechnology with the Faculty of Science and programs to provide<br />

academic training and personnel development for government agencies and the private sectors, as<br />

part of development programs to implement meaningful technological transfer.<br />
