September 24, 2020 - The Alabama State Nurses
Association was Honored to be the selection panel for
AL.com’s TOP TEN ALABAMA NURSES
September 25, 2020 – The Alabama State Nurses
Association hold its first ever… VIRTUAL HOUSE OF
DELEGATES
The TOP TEN NURSES awards, initiated by AL.com,
had over 500 nominations submitted for nurses across the
state! A committee of administrators and CEO’s narrowed
that group down to 50 and the ASNA awards committee
was asked to select the TOP TEN. We celebrated their
achievements and service at a “socially distanced” banquet
on the 24th. The event was live streamed to thousands of
viewers.
On the 25th, the cameras were back in action
with ASNA’s first ever VIRTUAL HOUSE OF
DELEGATES. Presentations were made by ASNA
President Sarah Wilkinson-Buchmann, ASNA Executive
Director Dr. John Ziegler, ASNA Treasurer, Dr. Frankie
Wallis and ASNA Awards narrated by President-elect Dr.
Lindsey Harris. After giving his Membership Growth
Report, ASNA Vice President, Fredrick Richardson
and was asked by Dr. Wilkinson-Buchmann to stay at
the podium. She then presented Fredrick with the first
Don Eddins Advocacy Award from the Alabama Nurses
Foundation. This honor and award carried with it a $3,000
stipend for his advocacy and community service! The
highlight of the evening for many was the introduction of
Dr. Lindsey as the new ASNA President. Dr. Harris is
the first person of color to hold the office of president in
ASNA’s 107-year history!
