Boarding at Barker College is a unique experience
for Senior students only and with a maximum
student population of 60, it is a tight-knit community.
The Barker experience attracts boarders from the
suburbs of Sydney through to country regions of
NSW and beyond. The coeducational environment
and small boarder numbers allow for the
development of close peer relationships, whilst
also providing accessible academic and personal
mentoring opportunities.
During the Senior years, the boarding environment
has proven to be of benefi t to many students as they
focus on their academic program whilst maintaining
a busy but balanced life. The necessity to develop
independent-living skills and resilience is supported
by strong pastoral care networks and programs.

Girls who board at Kambala enjoy Sydney Harbour
views every day from the windows of their heritage
residences set amongst the Kambala grounds, granting
access to the school’s recreational facilities and wide
open spaces. Kambala becomes a true home away
from home for Boarders, with girls forming lifelong
bonds as they live and learn together.
The Principal, Director of Boarding and dedicated Staff
ensure every girl has the support she needs to thrive as
a young person living away from family and familiarity.
The establishment of daily routines and access to
special activities, peer mentors, and medical and
wellbeing support ensure that every girl soon becomes
comfortable at Kambala.
Year 7 to 9 Boarders reside at the heritage listed
Tivoli building, and Year 10 to 12 girls at the Fernbank
campus where they can enjoy more independent living.

“I live on a property 25km out of Young. I’ve
been a boarder since Year 7 and I’m currently
in Year 11. My KRB experience has been
absolutely phenomenal and has given me
so many opportunities I would never have
thought possible. The Boarding House is like
a family, we care for one another and have
fun. A personal highlight would be the sporting
opportunities, I love swimming, horse riding
and hockey, and I have an opportunity to swim
in the mornings at squad training sessions. I
also have the opportunity to compete at the
North West Coona Horse Expo, where students
travel to Coonabarabran for a week to compete

Knox offers boarding for about 200 boys from
Years 7 to 12 in a family-style environment with
world-class facilities and accommodation.
The Knox boarding community is a diverse, closeknit
group, with boys from local suburbs, rural
areas and overseas. Boarders receive specialist
academic support from Knox teachers with study
sessions in core subjects and major electives.
Regular seminars on topics such as essay writing,
exam technique and time management help
boarders to thrive in their academic endeavours.

the richness of diversity at Loreto Normanhurst. The
School welcomes boarders in Years 7-12 from the
Sydney basin, country NSW, interstate and Australian
expatriate boarders. A full-time boarding model is
at the core of Loreto Normanhurst boarding, but it
also incorporates full fl exibility on weekends. For

Newington offers boarding in Years 9-12. The
College’s close-knit Edmund Webb Boarding
House is a short walk to the Years 7-12
campus, where boarders can make the most of
Newington’s pool, gym and study and rehearsal
spaces. In their downtime, boarders enjoy rock
climbing, pizza and movie nights, trips to the
beach and more.
The boarding house is also home to experienced
boarding staff who teach at Newington’s senior
campus and are on-hand to help boys with
their studies or any challenges they might be
experiencing. An adolescent health specialist
lives onsite.
