THE EMERALD WARRIORSEmerald Warriors RFC was formed in August2003 to provide an open, inclusive and safeenvironment to watch, play and enjoy rugby.The club offers the opportunity to playcompetitive rugby in one of our two teams inboth Ireland and the international stage as amember of International Gay Rugby (IGR).The clubs vision is to be, the leadinginclusive rugby club, not only in Ireland, butin the world, leading by example andachieving success as players, coaches andsupporters through our pathwaydevelopment and training.Emerald Warriors RFC continues to growfrom strength to strength.Some of our major highlights include hostingBingham Cup in 2008 and Union Cup in 2019.The Union Cup is Europe’s biggest LBGT+and inclusive rugby tournament, Over 45LGBT+ and inclusive rugby teams from 15countries came together to compete for theUnion Cup 2019, with the men’s final refereedby Nigel Owens. Emerald Warriors teamswere also delighted to be joined by IrelandCaptain; Rory Best, for a surprise trainingsession in the lead up to the tournament.In conjunction with Bank of Ireland,Guinness, Vodafone and a host of amazingclub allies, the Union Cup was a majorsuccess, attracting global attention and over1,600 visitors to the tournament each day.Albeit a challenging season with no matchesduring this Covid time, Emerald Warriorssuccess and popularity continues to grow,following a large influx of members for the2019/20 season we have maintained many,brought training online and had our awardsceremony online also. We were one of threeclubs to sell out our allocation forYourClubYourCountry draw tickets and lookforward to hosting postponed fundraisingevents in 2021. We welcome members of alllevels of experience looking to join, play foror support our club.
