ut college has been a great distraction for me
when I’m out of here.”
On building strong bonds with other players
who are rehabbing…
“It has been a year since I played. Guys
have come in and out (of rehab) and it’s a bit
demoralising seeing them start before you,
and then come out of it before you. It’s great
to have the likes of RG and Neilie around, and
Mattie has joined us as well. Obviously, you
don’t want to see anyone injured but it’s nice
to have some kind of connection there. We get
on really well. It’s way easier at the gym and do
our rehab together when there’s a group of us
together, have coffees and stuff like that make
a big difference.”
On staying integrated in the squad…
“In the last month or so, I’ve kind of tried to
jump in with the backs as much as possible.
It kind of makes it a bit easier when you are
in a team environment and getting to all the
meetings. Just being in with the squad makes
a huge difference mentally. It’s the only thing
that’s really got me through this – looking to
the end and just wanting to get back on the
pitch. I suppose staying in the meetings and
talking with the coaches has helped a lot with
that because you can keep clued in, stay match
sharp. Obviously, you can’t physically do it
but mentally you can prepare for the games
coming up. That makes a big difference. But
then obviously wanting to get back on the pitch
and back with the squad as well makes me very
ambitious and very motivated to get back.”
