street support nottingham - tackling homelessness
by Paul Scotting, Nottingham Homeless Voluntary Sector Forum
Looking for Homeless
Services in Nottingham?
To Find or Give Help
Go To:
streetsupport.net/nottingham/
In December 2020 more than 30 charities that support homeless people
across Nottinghamshire teamed up to launch Street Support Nottingham.
Numerous Nottingham City buses have carried banners advertising the
service and business cards carrying the site’s details accompanied copies
of the Big Issue and remain available at the front desk of every library within
the Nottingham urban area. The result of this initial publicity effort has been
remarkable, with over 1000 page views in the first month.
The business cards are the key to making Street Support Nottingham part
of the City’s culture. We want every single person who wants to help, to have
one of these cards tucked away in their wallet or phone. And we want every
single person who needs help to know that they can find it through Street
Support Nottingham. Donations and volunteers were already coming in via
the new website. We would like to thank the National Lottery and Boots for their support on launching the
scheme.
The scheme has the full support Nottingham City Council. Andrew Errington, Nottingham city’s Director of
Community Protection said “The site is comprehensive and easy to use … it will be an asset to helping those
sleeping rough… this will be a useful tool for agencies involved in supporting those facing homelessness and
getting them the right support as quickly as possible.”
