Bury St Edmunds<br />

The historic market town has a dogfriendly<br />

initiative in place, which helps<br />

residents and visitors identify which<br />

businesses are dog-friendly. Many pubs,<br />

cafes and shops are happy to welcome<br />

pooches. Take a walk around the town,<br />

explore its parks and stop off for a bite<br />

to eat. There are plenty of water bowls<br />

dotted around too!<br />

Outland Broads<br />

Discover walkways along the water.<br />

Carlton and Oulton Marshes are a jewel<br />

of the Suffolk Broads with its flora and<br />

fauna. From Carlton Marsh hop on the<br />

passenger ferry crossing the river to<br />

Burgh St Peter and the Waveney River<br />

Centre.<br />

Bure Valley Railway<br />

Pooches are welcome to hop aboard on<br />

the trains and walk beside the line with<br />

their owner. Fresh water is provided,<br />

and a marquee will be available for<br />

shade in hot weather. Dogs are not<br />

permitted inside the café, but dog<br />

parking hitches are available.<br />

Support this hard-working charity that<br />

rescues and cares for over 2,000 horses,<br />

ponies, donkeys and mules. Take a walk<br />

around the centre with your dog on lead<br />

and learn more about the care of the<br />

animals. There are Norfolk Pooch’s dog<br />

treats for sale in the shop too.<br />

Understandably dogs are not allowed<br />

in the house or gardens but there are<br />

four miles of glorious walks within the<br />

grounds. During the spring the forest is<br />

alive with colour with a beautiful display<br />

of daffodils and bluebells.<br />

Salhouse Broad<br />

Lower Street, Salhouse<br />

Salhouse Broad is a great place to<br />

moor with your dog. Dogs can paddle<br />

in the water before taking a stroll into<br />

the village, where they are welcome at<br />

the Fur & Feathers Pub. Be respectful<br />

of local wildlife and rules; dogs are not<br />

allowed on nature serves and must be<br />

kept on lead at Whitlingham Broads.<br />

Wimpole Estate<br />

The grounds of this working estate are<br />

guided by the seasons. Visit during<br />

spring for a spectacular display of<br />

seasonal flora. Dogs are welcome on<br />

lead in the park.<br />

Knebworth House<br />

Old Knebworth Lane, Stevenage<br />

Enjoy the ancient chestnut and lime<br />

avenues. The park is a perfect setting<br />

for country picnics and walks. Wellbehaved<br />

dogs on leads are welcome in<br />

Knebworth Park, but are not permitted<br />

in the House, Gardens, Dinosaur Trail or<br />

inside Fort Knebworth, however there’s<br />

still plenty of ground to explore.<br />
