Waimakariri Expo has<br />
showcasedagroupof<br />
innovativepeopleworking to<br />
improve theenvironment and<br />

Lesley Ottey, of Eco Educate,<br />
said she usedthe idea of Julia<br />
Crosson,instigator of the<br />
Wind farm construction to take 18 months<br />

stakeholderstoensure local<br />
wildlifeand plants are<br />

Environmental initiatives,<br />

from the windfarmfootprint<br />
and monitoring and reporting<br />
on the area’s ecology, will<br />
extend over the lifeofthe<br />
wind farmand beyond.<br />
Acommunity liaison group<br />
has been formed, made up of<br />
localvolunteers. The group<br />
facilitates theflow of<br />
information between the<br />
project team and the<br />
Historic Glenmark club marks milestone<br />

The Glenmark Rugby Club’s centennial<br />
celebrations were scuttledlast year<br />
because of Covid19 restrictions.<br />
Ayear later,the club will forge ahead to<br />
celebrate its rich history this weekend.<br />
The Omihibasedclub, whose 1970<br />
under11 teamsportedfive future All<br />
Blacks —RichardLoe, CraigGreen,<br />
Robbie and BruceDeans,and AndyEarl<br />
—opens thecelebration tomorrow night<br />
(Friday) with agathering at the Omihi<br />
Hall.<br />
Doorsopen at 6pm. There willbefinger<br />
food and refreshments, with plenty of<br />
time to mingle, chat and catch up with<br />
popular Back To Basics<br />
AshburtonExpo,with her<br />
blessing.<br />

templates for the Ashburton<br />
showfor the local event.<br />
The two women now hope to<br />
growthe eventbyencouraging<br />
other districts to hold their<br />
own Back To Basics Expos.<br />

meetingsand updates, are<br />
planned closer to when<br />
constructionstarts.<br />
The landuse consent<br />
expires in February 2025,<br />
following afive year<br />
players of yesteryearand those of today.<br />
Decadeinterviews with former players<br />
led by master of ceremonies Ben Harris<br />
are expected to add humour and candour<br />
to the event.<br />
President James Gardner saysvideos<br />
made for last year’s celebration featuring<br />

About 300 people are expected at the<br />
