When using the refuse and recycling collection service, please remember the following.<br />
•Only officialHurunuiCouncil bags willbecollected, these can be purchasedfromlocal outlets.<br />
•Bags must be securelytied and at thekerbside or official collection point by 8am as collection times may vary<br />
to normal. The crew will not return to collect bags whichare placedout late.<br />
•Refuse bags must not exceed 15kg.<br />
•Bags splitprior to the crew’s arrival and non-officialbags willnot be collected.<br />
•Bundles of cardboard will not be collected;these need to be recycledvia the transfer stations.<br />
What is accepted via the recycling collections?<br />
The following are accepted, providing they are free from foodwaste and loose (i.e.papers should not be tied in<br />
bundles) in aCouncilrecycling bag.<br />
•Clean newspapers, magazines, office paper and telephonedirectories.<br />
•Clean cardboard, greetings cards,junk mail,envelopes and egg boxes.<br />
•Clean food,drink and pet food cans.<br />
•Clean rigidplastic bottlesand small containers, types 1, 2and 5only withlids removed.<br />
What cannot be recycled?<br />
Soft plastics (thosethat can be scrunched in your hand), plastics numbered 3, 4, 6and 7, tetrapaks,polystyrene<br />
(including meat trays), plantpots, plastic strapping, clothing, shoes, food-stained paper or card, coffee cups,<br />
plastic lids, foil trays and food waste are not recyclable.<br />
If in doubt throw it out, as recycling bags containing contaminants will be stickered and left.<br />
Recycling glass bottles<br />
Glass bottles must not be put in recycling bags but can be recycledvia any transfer station providing lids are removed.<br />
TransferStation Arrangements<br />
The Cheviot and HanmerSprings transferstations will remain closed on Sunday 25th and all transfer stations will<br />
be closed on Monday 26th<strong>April</strong>.<br />
The Amberley transfer station will open between 10amand 4pm on Tuesday 27 <strong>April</strong>.<br />
