The 2021 ANA-Michigan Conference was held virtually this year. Though it
was a first for virtual, it was not for innovative and captivating speakers. Dr.
Bonnie Clipper is always a font of innovative knowledge, keeping us all up to
date on her findings and technology best practices. Mr. Anton Gunn, Former
Senior Advisor to President Barack Obama, presented to us, How to be Like
Steel in the Hour of Chaos. Two notions Michigan nurses have been living by
this past year of the pandemic. The panel discussions went over unanimously
as we took a deep, intimate dive into microaggressions and trauma through
a nurse’s eyes. Both panels were active in the chat and by the end of each
session, we came up with a page of resources for attendees that we pushed
out on our very own virtual platform. Collectively, there were 22 virtual video
posters and best poster was awarded to Michael Martel, MSN, RN, AGCNS-
BC on, Providing Nurses with a Structured Approach to Emotional Support
During COVID-19. Nice work Michael! The day ended with a virtual happy
hour with prizes and smiles. Though we could not be together in-person,
networking and laughing together was bound to happen and proves to be
the glue that holds us together as an association.
conference. We are always honored to pay tribute to our outgoing board
