• Pandemic Changes. The library became<br />

Staff and patrons can opt to be mask-free.<br />

This includes adults, children, and for any<br />

in-house programs. MCR Medical is providing<br />

the library with masks for anyone who<br />

does not have one but wants one. Hand sanitizer<br />

• Summer Reading Program. The theme<br />

this year is Tails & Tales. The program runs<br />

<strong>June</strong> 14-July 24. Stop in the library to pick<br />

up a reading log form or write them down<br />

and turn them in for every 10 books you<br />

read. Audio books and e-books are allowed.<br />

No sign-up is required. Participants will<br />

earn entries into a prize drawing for every<br />

log turned in.<br />

• A&R Alpaca Farms. Pet and feed alpacas<br />

while learning about them on <strong>June</strong> 19<br />

from noon to 2 p.m. on the library lawn. The<br />

educational portion of the program will take<br />

place at the beginning of the event.<br />

• Around Town Book Clubs. The in-person<br />

group will meet at 7 p.m. <strong>June</strong> 24 in<br />

front of Deer Creek State Park Lodge to discuss<br />

“Chasing Fireflies” by Charles Martin.<br />

Bring a lawn chair. In case of bad weather,<br />

the group will meet in the Mount Sterling<br />

Community Center conference room. Face<br />

masks are required for non-vaccinated participants<br />

if the group meets indoors. Social<br />

distancing will be observed.<br />

If there are enough participants, the<br />

Zoom club will meet at 7 p.m. <strong>June</strong> 29 to discuss<br />

the same book.<br />

• Summer Reading Program. The Summer<br />

Reading Program offers participants rewards<br />

for reading over the summer months<br />

and is for ages 3 through adult. No need to<br />

register. Simply pick up a reading log at the<br />

library or print one out using the links at<br />

www.plaincitylib.org/srp. Reading logs can<br />

be returned in person, in the library’s book<br />

drop, by mail, or via email. Visit the website<br />

for more information on events, logs, and<br />

prizes.<br />

• Storytime at the Park. The library is<br />

holding storytimes at 10:30 a.m. on Mondays<br />

in-person at Pastime Park, 370 N.<br />

Chillicothe St. The program features stories,<br />

rhymes, songs and other learning activities<br />

appropriate for ages 6 and younger.<br />

Kits containing scarves, shakers, beanbags,<br />

and other manipulatives will be available<br />

while supplies last. Anyone who has a storytime-from-home<br />

kit can bring it with<br />

them. Caregivers must attend with their<br />

child. Registration is not required.<br />

• Tails or Tales of the Night Sky. At 7<br />

p.m. <strong>June</strong> 15, blast off on a journey through<br />

the night sky with the Armstrong Air &<br />

Space Museum to experience the different<br />

tails and tales it has to communicate. The<br />

program is open to all ages. Registration is<br />

required.<br />

• Sprouting Melodies. Set for 10:30 a.m.<br />

<strong>June</strong> 17, this early childhood music class<br />

will take place in the library’s outdoor space<br />

and include songs, instrument play, and<br />

movement that encourage musical, social,<br />

physical and emotional growth and development.<br />

• Magic Workshop for Kids. Learn spellbinding<br />

magic tricks from professional magician<br />

Jeff Wawrzaszek at 2 p.m. <strong>June</strong> 21.<br />

Registration is required.<br />

• Library Board Meeting. The board will<br />

meet at 6:30 p.m. <strong>June</strong> 21 in the library’s<br />

Wilson Community Room. The public is invited<br />

The Mount Sterling Community Center<br />

is located at 164 E. Main St. Measures of social<br />

distancing, 10-person maximum attendance,<br />

and frequent sanitizing and hand<br />

Archaeology Society<br />

The Darby Creek chapter of the Archaeological<br />

Society of Ohio will meet on <strong>June</strong> 16<br />

at the <strong>Madison</strong> County Historical Society<br />

Museum, 260 E. High St., London. Doors<br />

open at 5:30 p.m.; the meeting starts at 6<br />

p.m. Facemasks are optional. Anyone showing<br />

or who thinks they have symptoms of<br />

COVID-19 or flu-like symptoms, or who has<br />

recently been around someone showing<br />

symptoms of COVID-19 or the flu, is asked<br />

to not attend. Anyone interested in Native<br />

American and/or metal detecting artifacts is<br />

welcome. Feel free to bring Native American<br />

or metal detecting artifacts for discussion.<br />

Songfest<br />

River of Life Worship Center, 4453 Big<br />

songfest on <strong>June</strong> 20 at 11 a.m. Pastor Gaye<br />
