| SNEAK PEEK ON THE COVER behind the scenes GRISEL PUIG-SNIDER BY VANESSA PLAKIAS Every month Grisel likes to highlight a young artist. At the time of our shoot, she was featuring a teen who lost his mother and paints the backs of skateboards as a form of expression and healing. If Los Osos ever had a Mother Teresa, it’s Grisel. Not just a joyous heart of gold full of kindness and gratitude, but a passion for helping and supporting others—especially women and children who need someone to believe in them. Grisel’s friend made her a colorful mosaic heart and told her, “You’re the heart of Los Osos.” It hangs on her studio door. There is art in everything—we both lit up with excitement sharing examples, many of which people might not recognize on their linear path of life goals. But if you meander a bit, and shift perspective, there it is. Awe inspiring, brilliant, beautiful art! As we walked the Bluff Trail in Montaña de Oro (or as she reminded me, Mountains of Gold), people walked by Grisel completely enchanted and charmed.
