The decision by members
of the 2020 Vetting
Committee of the
Metropolitan, Municipal
and District
Chief Executives (MMDCEs) to
recommend the appointment of
Madam Elizabeth Kaakie Mann as
the new Ga East Municipal Chief
Executive (MCE) to replace the
incumbent MCE, Mrs Janet Tulasi
Mensah, has degenerated into
serious confusion and tension in
the municipality.
Majority of youth groups including
traditional office holders,
chiefs, assembly members, market
women, students, religious
leaders, members and supporters
of New Patriotic Party (NPP) in
the area could not fathom why
members of the committee would
rather recommend Madam Mann
for nomination as the MCE for Ga
East looking at the good works
the incumbent MCE has done to
generally transform the municipality.
In that report, the three
persons who are Elizabeth Kaakie
Mann, Mr Robert Bonsu and Janet
Tulasi Mensah were shortlisted
for the position.
But in a report in possession
of this news outlet, members of
the committee have recommended
Madam Mann for nomination
as MCE.
According to the report, the
nomination of Madam Mann will
balance the ethnic composition
of the Ga East in the Greater
Accra Region.
The report indicated that
Madam Mann worked actively
during the 2020 general election
and added that she has great
ocean-friendly non-governmental
organisation (NGO), Clean Ocean
Project Ghana (COPG), is due to
irresponsible actions by residents
living along the coast of the
country.
Speaking to journalists during
a clean-up operation along the
shores of Teshie in Accra on Saturday,
the Project Coordinator of
COPG, Guelda Osei, called for the
MMDCEs appointment:
appeal across the ethnic groups
in the constituency.
The report mentioned that
Madam Mann was the Secretary
to the General Secretary from
2008-2014, explaining that she is
a member of the Dome-Kwabenya’s
Women’s Wing from 2016 to
date.
According to the report, Madam
Mann holds BSc in Business
Administration from UPSA.
But in a quick response,
majority of the constituents
interviewed punched deep holes
into the report of the members of
the vetting committee.
They described the report as
bogus, calling on President Nana
Addo Dankwa Akufo- Addo to
ignore the recommendation of
the committee and retain Mrs
Tulasi Mensah as the MCE for her
second term to continue to her
good works to bring sustainable
development to the area.
They pointed out that looking
at the performances of Mrs
situation to be addressed to help
contribute to the country’s attainment
of the Sustainable Development
Goals (SDG) 6 and 8, adding
that this was very paramount in
the achievement of a clean ocean.
The exercise which took place
at the Teshie site for the construction
of a landing beach was organised
by COPG, in collaboration
with Eco Brigade, a Jospong Group
of Companies’ subsidiary.
According to Mrs Osei, the
oceans need to become habitable
for both humans and animals,
saying that the government must
apply stiffer punishment to people
who pollute the beaches.

of the vetting committee to
team up with some individuals
of Dome-Kwabenya to support
Madam Mann to be appointed the
new MCE of the area.
“We want to speak the truth
and her achievements are glaring
for everyone to see. She has built
schools, provided potable water
to our areas, improve the social
welfare of the people, embarked
on numerous developmental
projects and projected the image
of the constituency.
“So we want to state that the
members of the vetting committee
are wrong to team up with
constituency and polling station
executives to endorse Madam
Mann for the new Ga East MCE
position. These individuals had
done that because of their individuals’
selfish interest and not
that of the constituency.”

that had a routine maintenance

were in a mess, which needed a
collaborative effort to maintain
them.
The General Manager (GM),
Ecozoil Limited, Mrs Abitha
Odame-Nyanteh, advocated a massive
public education, particularly
along the beaches.
While calling for punitive
measures to curb the menace, she
appealed for the right infrastructure
to be put in place.
"Maybe when you arrest an
offender for littering or defecating
at the beach and put him or her
behind bars and shown on television,
it will serve as a deterrent to
others who otherwise would do
same," she said.
She entreated government and
stakeholders to collaborate and
embark on a massive public education
on the need to ensure that
country’s beaches were clean.

The Municipal Chief

Anhwiaso Bekwai Municipal
Assembly in the
Western North Region,
Hon Alfred Amoah, has corrected
a falsehood being spread by
some individuals concerning the
new National Health Insurance
(NHIS) office in Bibiani.
The said reported alleged that
he and the assembly caucus had
squandered the amount supposed
to be channeled into the building
of the said edifice.
Speaking in an interview on
Okyeame Radio Adekyee which
was monitored by DAILY Analyst,
the MCE noted that the
design or plan was brought from
the National Health Insurance
education tailored towards children.
He urged parents to educate
their children on the benefits of
keeping and living in a healthy
environment.
"If a thorough education
goes ahead of punitive measures,
people living close to the beaches
would appreciate the worth of a
clean environment," he said.
It is in the light of the above
that Clean Ocean Ghana, in
collaboration with Eco Brigade,
appealed for measures to be put
in place to curb the perennial
menace of shore littering in order
to make them safe for human and
animal habitation.
During the exercise, the cleanup
team swept and collected
sachets, plastic bags and bottles.
At the end, the Teshie Sango Naa
Beach became clean.
The group members also
pledged to continue the exercise
on a regular basis in a bid to keep
the beaches clean and habitable
for living organisms.

He stated that the footages

it wasn't commissioned by the
President.
