It’s time to let the sun in, Canterbury
TO CELEBRATE the opening
of its Christchurch solar hub,
Lightforce is gifting a $30,000
solar system and battery to a
local organisation that does
great things in the Canterbury
community.
Lightforce is
committed to
partnering with
organisations
that align with
its goals so,
as part of its
Solar for Good
Luke Nutting
programme,
it’s asking
Cantabrians to nominate a
deserving charity or not-forprofit
that could do more good
work with the money it will save
on electricity.
Environmental appeal and
energy independence have long
been major selling points of solar
and they are becoming even more
appealing as we shift away from
fossil fuels and towards lowercarbon
energy sources.
Residential power prices have
also gone up by 48 per cent since
2000, far in excess of the rate of
inflation, and the price of solar
panels has come down dramatically
in recent years, so going
solar also makes financial sense,
especially in a sun-soaked region
like Canterbury.
Chief executive Luke Nutting
says a lot of Lightforce customers
are not paying anything for
their power and are often getting
credits from their power companies
because they sell energy back
into the grid.
Lightforce is the country’s
fastest-growing solar installer and
has delivered world-class solar
solutions to over 6000 residential,
commercial and agricultural customers
around the country.
Around 80 per cent of the
systems Lightforce now installs
include batteries, which means
solar energy can be used when we
need it most – peak usage times
in the morning and at night.
And, in what Nutting sees as a
big endorsement of the company
and its vision, it recently signed
an exclusive distribution deal
with global battery powerhouse
Energizer Homepower.
